But surely it's been going downhill for years.

Boom, and indeed, boom...

There are changes on the horizon for Weird Science in 2012. There's even a rumour that I might have persuaded some, gulp, actual scientists to contribute to the blog.

However, all this must wait as I embark on a week of traveling down snowy inclines at increasing stupid speeds.

So unless I don't miss all those trees, Weird Science will return full blast in a week.

Let the countdown commence...

Hope you all have a happy holidays and a rather spiffing New Year.

I'm going to have a bit of a rest now for a week or so, but don't doubt that Weird Science will be back in 2012 - bigger and better than ever before.

Excelsior!

Daniel

Holiday time!

I'm off on a well-deserved break for the next couple of weeks to sit in the sun and eat lots of croissants so the usual Weird Science will be missing in action.

But still visit the site as there'll be a few goodies to view and read. And don't worry, normal service will resume upon my return.

A note to the hoard of Weird Science devotees (yep, all eight of you) that you might find the website a little bit temperamental over the next couple of weeks.

Specifically you won't be able to access the archive of glorious content other than through the tags.

The IT boffins tell me this will be rectified in the next couple of weeks while they attempt to drag the blog platform kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.

Many apologies and please don't all run off, normal service will be resumed soon. And who knows, it might even be better.

In the meantime visit often and you'll be sure not to miss anything!

Daniel out.

Hello. As you'll see from the blurb I'm a failed scientist (couldn't do the math) now posing as a writer of words and designer of news pages.

Any feedback would be most appreciated and if anyone has any ideas on how to make the blog better I'd be very interested!

You can e-mail me at wscience@me.com.

Or you can join the Weird Science Facebook group here, or follow us on Twitter here or by searching for weirdsciblog.

Or you could go really crazy and join the Weird Science Newsletter - about to be relaunched for the 21st Century!

It contains more info about the subjects we cover, plus some extra stuff that didn't make the blog.

Daniel Smith - a long time ago, in a galaxy far away just north of Watford, Daniel fancied himself as a scientist but turned out to be the worst scientist since that bloke who mapped out all those canals on Mars that turned out to be scratches on his telescope's lens. Luckily, he is now not working on the Large Hadron Collider inadvertently creating a black hole that would swallow the world but is safely behind a desk writing this blog, bringing you the fantastical underbelly of nature... weird science.
