Sun gobbles us a comet

By Daniel Smith on May 26, 10 03:00 PM

NASA's STEREO (Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory) witnessed a comet plunging into the Sun

Astronomers think this now-deceased comet was a Kreutz sungrazer. This is a group of comets that are the remnants of a single large comet that broke up, and periodically they graze too close for comfort and make death dives into opur local fiery ball of gas..

Also, check out this footage from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. It's pretty amazing!

The sun is a source of energy. It is called a big ball of energy. The surface of the sun is called photosphere having a temperature about 5800 K. It's amazing how the sun destroy everything that comes near it. Scientist says that everything on earth is living at the mercy of the sun. I hope that this continues study of the sun will help us predict and understand how sun behaves in the future so that we people can prepare if something will happen. Guy Riordan

Daniel Smith - a long time ago, in a galaxy far away just north of Watford, Daniel fancied himself as a scientist but turned out to be the worst scientist since that bloke who mapped out all those canals on Mars that turned out to be scratches on his telescope's lens. Luckily, he is now not working on the Large Hadron Collider inadvertently creating a black hole that would swallow the world but is safely behind a desk writing this blog, bringing you the fantastical underbelly of nature... weird science.
