Mars meteorite reveals life... again

Well, this is a turn up for the books. The meteorite that caused all the martian life kerfuffle back in 1996 might actually contain evidence of extra-terrestrials after all.

The Alan Hills Meteorite was found in Antarctica and caused a hell of a stir back in 1996 when scientists announced it contained microscopic fossils of bacteria from Mars.

All this proved to be a little premature and soon there was a line of doubtful boffins itching to shoot down the claims.

But now Alan Hills is making a comeback.

According to spaceflighthow.com, a new look at the rock "evidence that supports the existence of life on the surface of Mars, or in subsurface water pools, early in the planet's history."

The site says we can expect a public announcement by NASA Headquarters within a couple of days.

Research using a more advanced High Resolution Electron Microscopy than was in existence when the initial findings were made 13 years ago has provided the new evidence.

What exactly have they found? We'll have to wait and see... but not long.

We are all from Mars!

Modern day humans just like you and I once thrived on Mars only a few thousand years ago. Unfortunately, planetary chaos saw Mars literally torn inside out from a once earth like planet to its now frozen desolate state. Millions of people died in this martian 'end of the world' scenario. Fortunately for the human race pockets of people made it to earth to start life anew.

Daniel Smith - a long time ago, in a galaxy far away just north of Watford, Daniel fancied himself as a scientist but turned out to be the worst scientist since that bloke who mapped out all those canals on Mars that turned out to be scratches on his telescope's lens. Luckily, he is now not working on the Large Hadron Collider inadvertently creating a black hole that would swallow the world but is safely behind a desk writing this blog, bringing you the fantastical underbelly of nature... weird science.
