I found the fact that suicide pops up quite often a bit shocking, I must admit.

The Staffordshire Hoard, the largest collection of Anglo-Saxon treasure ever found, has been valued at £3.28 million ($5.5m).

The independent Treasure Valuation Committee reached the figure after meeting at the British Museum on Wednesday.

A six-metre rocket blasted off from New Zealand today - the first ever private launch in the southern hemisphere.

Atea-1 carried its payload of 23,000 messages to dead people from families around the world to a height of around 150km.

NASA has just released this spectacular image of the crab nebula.

X-ray data from the Chandra satellite has provided significant clues to the workings of this mighty cosmic 'generator,' which is producing energy at the rate of 100,000 Suns.

You might have heard this week that scientists at CERN switched on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)... then slowly inched away while crossing their fingers.

The LHC is the biggest science experiment ever designed and will be searching for the building blocks of the universe, but famously blew a fuse shortly after it was launched late last year.

Paleontologists have come across fossils of fearsome ancient crocodiles that stood on two legs and who fed on a menu of dinosaurs.

These new discoveries include species nicknamed BoarCroc, RatCroc, PancakeCroc, DuckCroc and DogCroc.
