The latest snapshots taken from the International Space Station are doing the rounds - and they are spectacular.

Here is the Sarychev Peak Volcano, in Russia's Kuril Islands, caught mid eruption.

The excellent Bad Astronomy blog posted this animation made up of images taken of the volcano from the ISS.

Some more ISS pictures can be found at The Boston Globe's Big Picture website - I would definitely recommend taking a look.

Here's one that struck me as a pretty stunning image. Just click for a bigger view.

Weird Science Factoid: A hardboiled egg will spin. An uncooked or softboiled egg won't. Eggs-traordinary!

Daniel Smith - a long time ago, in a galaxy far away just north of Watford, Daniel fancied himself as a scientist but turned out to be the worst scientist since that bloke who mapped out all those canals on Mars that turned out to be scratches on his telescope's lens. Luckily, he is now not working on the Large Hadron Collider inadvertently creating a black hole that would swallow the world but is safely behind a desk writing this blog, bringing you the fantastical underbelly of nature... weird science.
