Apollo 11 - Dark side of the moon?

Apollo 11 blasted off from Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on 16 July 1969 at around 1.30pm, starting a three day trip towards the moon. On July 19 the rocket passed behind the Moon and entered lunar orbit. On 20 July 1969 Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module - Eagle - safely on the moon. Six-and-a-half hours later, watched by hundreds of millions of TV viewers across the world, Armstrong took "one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind" as he descended the nine steps from the landing pod onto the cratered surface of the Sea of Tranquillity.

NASA, in an audacious attempt to beat their Cosmonaut rivals, duped the world by filming a fake moon landing and showing it live on TV. All broadcasts of the landing were controlled by the US government and conspiracy theorists claim this allowed them to shoot a hoax landing and get the public to swallow it as the real deal.

According to the theory there are a string of inconsistencies in the footage we all saw of the astronauts on the moon. The American flag can be seen blowing in the breeze, but there should be no wind on the surface of the moon. No stars are visible in the background as Armstrong and Aldrin stride around the Sea of Tranquillity.

Technology had evolved to the point where wire supports were available to lift the astronauts in the studio to replicate the weightlessness they enjoy in the moon landings footage.
The final piece in the jigsaw for many theorists was the discovery of images of the Apollo crew holding templates to the window of their rocket. They claim these templates were used to create the illusion that the craft was halfway between earth and the moon, while it actually remained safely stowed away on US soil.

- Some blueprints and designs from the Apollo 11 project are missing.

- The Soviets had already achieved the first manned orbit and had at least five times the space experience of the US astronauts. They were said to be days away from putting a man on the moon, if the US hadn't got to the moon when they did, they would have lost the space race.

- Footprints in the lunar dust, with no atmosphere or strong gravitational pull, appear to be all too clear in the photographs of the landing, whereas there is no imprint from the heavier lunar module.

- No blast crater is visible in the footage of the moon landings.

- Rocks brought back from the Moon are strikingly similar to those already collected by scientific expeditions to Antarctica and would therefore be easy to fake.

- A total of 12 NASA staff involved in the mission died shortly after the successful Apollo 11 landing. This has led to accusations of a string of murders to cover up the hoax.

- NASA has hours and hours of taped conversations with the Apollo crew describing in minute detail their trip to the moon. More than 200 staff gathered in mission control to watch and support the mission, not a single one has ever revealed a conspiracy and their accounts of that day are all the same.

- No evidence of any secret studio has ever been produced. No-one involved in the "conspiracy" has ever spoken out and no documentary or video evidence can be produced to show that any of the footage which was beamed out on TV was shot on earth.

- Though no stars are visible in the background, scientists say that stars would not be visible at the time of day the landing took place due to light from the sun.

- While the US flag may be seen fluttering in the video, experts claim this is not unusual. Tapes showing the Apollo 15 and 16 missions, both show the flag waving as the astronauts move around nearby. According to scientific analysis the flag would have continued to move after the astronauts put it into position as there is no "air drag" on the moon to slow down the motion caused by the initial act of moving it.

- There is no reason to expect a blast crater from the landing module as it had reduced power and speed to such a degree that it was unlikely to create a significant impression on the moon's surface.

Conclusion - The evidence all points to the moon landings being totally legitimate. But there are those little niggling inconsistencies in the video footage that just make you wonder....surely they couldn't have got away with a hoax this elaborate....could they?
