Hustle pulls off a great con but I can see through it
I've always enjoyed Hustle, but the BBC drama is even more entertaining now we can play the 'spot the Birmingham location' game.
Despite all those sweeping shots of London - and far too many of the Gherkin - most of this series was filmed in Brum, and it was interesting to spot just where.
True, we couldn't see the Rotunda or Selfridges, but we did get a glimpse of the Bullring and Metro Bar.
'Kylie' performed in the lantern-lit underpass outside the Mailbox, while the Western Bank of California was situated in Victoria Square. The Floozie in the Jacuzzi was just out of shot as Adrian Lester and Kelly Adams chatted by the fountains.
I'm pretty sure they were standing in St Philip's Square at the end, with the Cathedral behind them and near the blue office building of Colmore Gate.
Plus, of course, Hotel du Vin was upgraded to the five-star Hotel Berwick.
When I went on set, I was very impressed at how a bit of lighting transformed a Saltley warehouse into a Thames-side penthouse apartment.
It's great to see Brum looking so glossy and glamorous, and this sort of easy-on-the-eye entertainment is perfect for January.
Keep it up, Hustle!

I live in Toronto, and we love playing the "spot the location" game. The number of times Dundas Square has stood in for Times Square is almost silly. One time, I even turned on the television and realized, "Hey, I live there!"
Our downside is the big, recognizable CN Tower in the background (people need to shoot around it), and our recent parity with the U.S. dollar (our biggest selling point was the bargain).
