AN ENJOYABLE RPG that will have you battling monsters for hours, White Knight is an addictive little game well suited to the handheld console.

What it lacks in scope, it more than makes up for in well designed combat against a host of evil beasts.

Hard-core RPG might find White Knight a little lacking but for Monster Hunt fans, it's well worth a look.

The two main characters of the series, Ratchet...

ONCE the darlings of the PlayStation2 generation, Ratchet and his trusty 'bot pal Clank have been looking a little tired recently - overshadowed by the likes of Uncharted and Arkham.

Obviously developers Insomniac Games thought this as well because the latest adventure of the two heroes is, well, not very Ratchety or Clanky.

The colourful graphics and Saturday cartoon sense of humour do remain, but All 4 One is centred around a four-player cooperative multiplayer mode.

While the online adventure is done very well, the far-too-easy puzzles will make hardcore fans nostalgic for the classic games in the series, which this isn't.

Kratos (God of War)

Image via Wikipedia

EVERYONE'S favourite cursed Spartan warrior has been dusted off, given a HD makeover and, Sony hope, a new lease of life on the PS3.

Developer Ready at Dawn Studios have lovingly upscaled and remastered two of Kratos's PSP outings - The Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta - and made a pretty good job of it, too.

While the basic formula stays the same - a combination of hard-hitting hack 'n slash mechanics with epic storylines inspired by the Greek myths - it does look at home on your widescreen telly as you can tell real effort has gone in to beefing up the visuals.

Is is worth shelling out for? It's a good introductory package for newcomers and no doubt avid fans of the franchise will lap it up. Otherwise, I dare say there a few new titles that are more worthy of your attention.

Review: Eye Pet (PSP)

By Steve Wollaston on Nov 20, 10 10:46 AM

A new PSP title that started life on the main console, moving over from the PS3 is Sony's successful kids title Eye Pet.

Mine came packaged with Sony's PSP camera and whilst it isn't as in depth or interactive as the PS3 version it does have considerable depth and playability.

As well as being able to interact with your pet and play with him and keep him happy there is also a collection of different little mini games including bowling, sailing and fishing.

It's very similar to other virtual pet games but the camera element gives this an extra bit of innovation.

A charming title that is well worth a look

Even now after a few years on the market the PSP is still full of surprises...

This second God Of War title developed specifically for the handheld is a good a game as we have seen on the PSP and pushes it to the very limits in order to deliver a barn-storming game.

The Pro Evo series has taken a huge step forwards this year with may people putting it on a par with the FIFA series.

I'm a huge fan of football games on the PSP, to me there is no greater buzz than sitting on a train and having a great game of footie - on the PSP I mean.

It's a luxury I grew up without and I think gaming has evolved so much to suit gamers it's fantastic.

Evolution is not only in the title of this game it is also represented in the gameplay, this is a solid development in the series and having played the console version I can hand on heart say that it has shipped over well to the PSP.

Graphics are excellent and it is packed with plenty of features to keep you occupied for however long you want to be.

Solid gameplay and a very fluent and effective game of footie at your fingertips!

Review: Despicable Me

Leaning heavily on the film of the same name this game is a decent game that looks great on the surface.

LOCK and load... it's time to lead a two-man Navy SEAL squad into situations you'll need to blast yourself out of. This first-person shooter is one of the best you'll find on the Sony handheld, but it's not all about gunfights.

Along with your computer team-mate you can employ stealth and tactics to dish out steaming ladles of justice. While you can fight it out through a failed former Russian state, there's more action to be had online.

Supporting 16 players, the multiplayer mode is very polished indeed and is one of the main attractions to the game with a fast frame rate and awesome weaponry.

EchoShift (PSP)

SEQUEL to the well-received Echodrome, this platform puzzler is simple yet so complex.

There's level after level to tackle as you navigate a mannequin to the exit. Sounds easy enough? Well you've only got around 30 seconds to do it in.

The graphics are very simple but that's not really the point. Like LittleBigPlanet before it, the game's all about playability.

Echoshift wears its simplicity like a badge of honour. A reminder to developers that all the whizz bang graphics in the world can't save a stinker. This is perfect for people who want to play in short bursts. Although, while it's quick to pick up, you might not put it down again!

The Eye Of Judgement (PSP)

By Steve Wollaston on Mar 18, 10 01:06 PM

NOW I have an admission to make - I haven't got a clue about trading card games. So when I put this disc into my PSP I had no idea what to expect.

From what I've gathered, you roam around a mystical world looking for fights. According to those in the know, Legends is a card-battle game with added plot to entice you to carry on your quest.

But did it impress a newbie? Well, it looks nice enough and certainly can be picked up quickly.

However, it does get a little repetitive and I'm still mystified by the attraction of the genre. Unless you love to collect stuff, I'd probably avoid.
