Review: Fallout New Vegas

By Steve Wollaston on Oct 30, 10 12:54 PM

If you are a fan of the sheer brilliance that was Fallout 3 then it's safe to say that there isn't much that will surprise you about Fallout New Vegas.

It is also even safer to say that there isn't anything that will disappoint you either.
It has everything that you could possibly want, an excellent storyline, bigger and better enemies, the same excellent gameplay and a huge new map to discover.

There is a glaze that appears in people's eyes these days whenever the phrase 'Post Apocalyptic America' is used.

It's a genre that has quite frankly been completely overcooked.

At least that's what I thought.

Set 150 years from now you are transported into an America that has shades of Avatar's Pandora about it.

Graphically the game is colourful and bold and looks every inch a masterpiece.

The gameplay revolves around two characters Trip and Monkey. One is a fearless warrior and the other is a beautiful and intelligent woman trying to make her way home.

They come together on a slave ship where they are being held captive and this is where the excellent story starts to unfold.

The gameplay is slick, quick and enjoyable and the storyline is powerful. A fantasy adventure game with added hack and slash with puzzles and racing thrown in too!

The game's depth saves it becoming just another game with standard gameplay and good graphics.

It's silly season folks...

Fans of Mickey Mouse and Disney are in for a treat with the imminent arrival of the much anticipated Epic Mickey.

Disney Epic Mickey is an action-adventure platforming game for the Wii console that sends Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery.

As Mickey, the player is propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney's forgotten creative efforts, and is given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey's path to becoming an epic hero.

Through the use of this unique paint and paint thinner, the key components of animation and Mickey's tools for impacting his world, players will have the ability to shape how the story unfolds as they discover the concept of "Playstyle Matters" - an innovative style of gameplay created by Disney Interactive Studios' Junction Point, led by industry luminary Warren Spector, where players creatively tackle different challenges in the world to explore all the possibilities and storylines - but with consequences for their chosen actions.

TRON: Evolution is the hotly anticipated movie-tie in from Disney that promises gamers an immersive 3rd person action‐adventure game that pulls the player into the unique digital world of TRON.

Gamers explore TRON's cities using the free running phenomenon Parkour, they will navigate among unique rebel factions, and fight an epic battle against a dictator's seemingly unstoppable army in the prequel to the blockbuster film, TRON: Legacy.

Here's some of the images from the game so far which is due out very soon... keep looking out for a review in the next fortnight.

Sackboy toy is a real treat

By Steve Wollaston on Oct 28, 10 11:53 PM

The success of Little Big Planet continues to soar and with the second installment due out soon it's not likely to calm down for some time.

When I was sent one of these little Sackboy toys I had grand designs on keeping him on my desk - however I made the mistake of leaving it in my bag and taking it home.

That;s when my 4-year-old daughter prized it out and claimed it as her own, it now takes pride of place with Nemo and Peppa Pig on her bed.

Seriously though this is a great little gizmo for gaming fans and the ultimate in cool... I can picture it taking pride of place in an office, car, or student's flat.

Review: Despicable Me

By Steve Wollaston on Oct 28, 10 08:11 PM

Leaning heavily on the film of the same name this game is a decent game that looks great on the surface.

From sinister whispers echoing across misty bogs to giant, poisonous spiders, there are moments when Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is genuinely unsettling.

Review: Medal of Honour

THINK back to the Beatles vs The Stones, Ali vs Frazier, Blur v Oasis, FIFA v Pro Evo. Rivalries exist in every walk of life.

Usually they exist because both are popular and one has something the other doesn't.
