The Ultimate Red Ball Challenge - BBC'S Total Wipeout (Wii)

By Steve Wollaston on Dec 16, 09 02:32 PM

I LOVE the daft but fun BBC show Total Wipepout, so was more than a little excited to receive The Ultimate Red Ball Challenge for the Wii.

What a disappointment. The hit TV programme is a fast-paced farce offering belly laughs galore as super-hyped contestants battle an obstacle course in a modern-day It's a Knockout.

The Wii computer game version supposedly gives you 'all the thrills and spills' of the hit show. In reality, it is downright dull as your 3D character plods through a series of challenges that are exciting to watch on TV - but boring to tackle on the screen. You can play through eight shows in single player mode or challenge up to four friends in multi-player mode.

But we gave up after just a few attempts in the 'qualifying' section as the instructions were too complicated and the poor gameplay just left us feeling downright annoyed, especially when trying to tackle the famous Big Red Balls.

The game, like the TV programme, is hosted by Top Gear's genial Richard Hammond. Unfortunately, this poor Christmas-timed release never gets out of first gear.
