A Boy And His Blob (Wii)

By Steve Wollaston on Nov 19, 09 12:28 PM

If you see a better presented and more charming looking game than this I want to hear about it.

This fantastically whimsical game is not your standard Wii game and is as stylized as it is simplistic.

Gameplay is very clever as you guide the boy and his blob through beautifully hand drawn 2D environments overcoming obstacles on the way.

The blob transforms throughout the game into ladders, trampolines, rockets etc and you use it to progress through the levels as the challenge unfolds.

Based on an old NES game you take on the role of a boy who befriends the blob who has come to earth to look for help in saving Blobolonia.

Feeding the blob jelly beans to transform him is quirky and imaginative and the 40 levels on offer are both diverse and challenging.

The game gives hope to the Wii in the battle for it to be taken seriously. There is no balancing here, no insane party game modes.

This is old-fashioned gaming with a very modern twist and a tremendous quality and atmosphere to it.
