Gran Turismo (PSP) - Review By Daniel Smith

WHATEVER the perceived faults with Sony's PSP, or the PS3 for that matter, you have to admit they are both serious pieces of technology.

Sometimes you can forget this, but plonk in Gran Turismo and you'll realise the handheld is an absolute beast.

This famous racer boasts the best graphics I've seen on the PSP - incredibly detailed and smooth.

'The real driving simulator' is packed with 800 cars and 70 layouts.

To start off, you're handed a Golf GTI to smash round the circuits, smash being the operative word in my case.

The lack of a career mode does harm gameplay, however, as it's a bit directionless with the only incentive for racing being cash for more cars.

But as I was getting a little bit bored of my Golf, I managed to get some money together to invest in a 1979 Nissan Bluebird. Sure, it's not as fast, but the handling, oh the handling!

Steve Wollaston - Sunday Mercury games reviewer Steve has been writing about video games for donkey's years. In fact he is probably far too old for it now which is why you will see a lot of reviews been done by kids... He has been nominated three times for Regional Games Journalist Of The Year at the Games Media Awards, but never wins. His major love is sports games and rates Sensible World of Soccer circa 90's as the greatest game ever made - closely followed by Championship Manager 2. Skyrim has currently taken over his life.
