Relive the glory days with Nintendo Mini Classics

By Steve Wollaston on Aug 13, 09 02:32 PM

THE folks at www.firebox.com have come up trumps again with this collection of retro classic Nintendo favourites.

Shaped like a diddy Game Boy and small enough to fit on your key ring this is a really funky little accessory.

They look great and they come loaded with a classic and addictive Nintendo classic, graphically they are about as naïve and rudimentary as they could be.

That's what it was like back in the day though kids, gameplay was simplistic, graphics even more so.

These actually came out in the 80's in a slightly different shape and kids all over the world had them in the playground, this is yet another retro revival from the decade that mattered!

I got sent a Stylophone a few weeks ago - it just goes to show that there is a lot of mileage in the past.

There are three to choose from so far in the range I was sent Mario's Cement Factory - the classic platformer that sees the iconic tap-twiddler attempting to prevent containers of cement overflowing.

I have had great fun reliving the game and it is addictive to play such a simple game in such a fun format, really took me back.

Donkey Kong and Super Mario may whet your appetite too!

You even have the option of sticking it on your desk as a clock - multifunctional too!

These are very much gimmicky retro products that are primitive to say the least, but they are great fun and addictive even now.

They really look the part and everyone who has seen my key ring with the diddy Game Boy on has remarked on it.

wPICK up your rifle and head to the Pacific for Battlefield 1943 - available from the PS3 via the PlayStation store.

At just a tenner, the game is a multiplayer online first-person shooter that's a lot of fun.

The graphics hold up to some of the more expensive titles out there and the internet play is seemless.

There's load of variety as well. Hop into a plane and cause havoc, or make it to the radar station and ordfer a bombing run.

It's all terrific fun.
