Boom Blox: Bash Party (Wii)

By Steve Wollaston on Jun 6, 09 11:21 PM

STEVEN Spielberg and Electronic Arts are two of the biggest names in the entertainments industry, last year they proved to be a great partnership when they teamed up to release Boom Blox on the Wii.

Arguably the surprise package of last year it delighted gamers with it's simplistic gameplay, superb presentation and total addictive gameplay.

And guess what - the sequel is better - almost in a Jaws 2 kind of way.

I played the game for an hour or so before handing over to the kids, I played the single player game was delighted that all the magic of the first game had been kept and improved on.

There is a lot more depth in this game, a lot more ingenuity has gone into the level designs and gameplay.

The settings are great with levels based underwater and in outer-space, graphics are very high quality and the cartoony nature of the game is presented perfectly.

The kids took over on the multiplayer side of things and judging by the noise and the fact that we had to prize them off it to have tea I would say they loved it.

The game is essentially Jenga gone mental with lots of added twists and strategies, you have to throw, grab, slide and bomb your way through the challenging levels.

Fun is the name of the game, well actually it is Boom Blox: Bash Party but you get the point. EA have maintained their usual high standards to back possibly the most addictive puzzle game since Tetris.

Very easy to pick up and play from the off but also very easy to get totally immersed in - a game that is truly for all ages too - which is a very good thing indeed.
