X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Uncaged Edition (Xbox 360)

I was split right down the middle with my expectations of this game. I know what movie tie-ins are like - I know what to expect. I also know that any X-Men game should be good.

The game starts off in true cinematic style and in all honesty has a quite breath-taking and engrossing couple of minutes of build-up.

Then you find yourself right in the thick of it, mashing those buttons like they have done you an injustice.

This game nearly failed in all the ways I thought it might - it is at times repetitive, limited, lacking depth and a bit of a no-brainer.

It does however get away with it through the relentless action and wonderfully varied moves on offer.

The graphics on the game are delicious - it looks fantastic and has some very fluent moves to tie in nicely with the excellent presentation.

There are loads of slicing and dicing combos and power-ups etc that are delivered in very gory fashion at times hence the (18) rating.

You will marvel at the ridiculousness of it all - and revel in the brutality - for example within three minutes I had stuck my clawed hand through a pilot's stomach and held him aloft for his head to be decapitated by the spinning rotary blade on the copter.

God I laughed - it's top-notch Dynasty Warriors style foe after foe slaughtering and unless you really do get bored very easily you will enjoy it.
