PDC World Championship Darts (Wii)

Throwing the darts is awesome, hold the wiimote as you would hold a dart and as you throw it release the button and the dart will hit the board. The main thing to remember is to release the button and not the controller. I took out a picture frame on my first attempt.

The actual aiming of the dart is a little bit less successful and awkward than the actual throwing but as much as the awkwardness annoyed me at first it did grow on me and didn't take away from my enjoyment. You can actually select the weight of the dart you use and it genuinely does make a difference.

Graphically the game succeeds - it looks great and the face mapping of all the top players is great - the most successful element of including the players is that each one has their own realistic dart averages.

This gives the game a real air of enthusiasm and authenticity that is second to none.

At the end of the day as engaging as the modes on offer are, this is a darts game. I am undecided whether a darts game can ever be a totally engaging experience on a console. The subject matter isn't great.

I think this is why snooker has also suffered; they are very unglamorous sports regardless of how much you may enjoy them.

There has been a real effort here to live darts out of the mundanity it suffers from and to a degree it works in presenting the gamer with a polished and exciting, playable darts game on the Wii.

For me the longevity of the game stopped it reaching really great heights and hitting the bull's-eye but there is a lot the game can be commended for.
