Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (Nintendo Wii)

By Steve Wollaston on May 19, 09 07:15 PM

A franchise that has been revitalised over the years ad one that has come along way since the days of that ape chucking barrells down the screen...

This new offering is a version of the Game Cube game from 2005, that game was quite innovative in the sense that it used bongo controllers and had gamers pounding frantically with their palms to control kong through the levels.

This time around the controls are based around the wiimote and nunchuk and it is a massive amount of fun.

Strangely this game looks better than many 'new games' - this is after all a ported game albeit rejuvinated, refreshed and shining like the newest of new pins.

This is how fluent and polished Nintendo games should be - regardless of the format.

Action on the game is ludicrously fast-paced and subsequently leaves your wrists completely wrecked, it's frantic and exhausting.

At it's heart it is classic Nintendo platform action game oozing with cuteness, quirkiness and playability, at times the speed is almost Sonic-esque.

Colourful and engaging levels are brought to life by the new combo system and very responsive controls.

If you love Mario, Sonic, Kong and classic Nintendo this is a well-thought out catchy title with plenty of variety and appeal.

Good fun and brilliantly delivered....
