Ninja Blade (Xbox 360)

By Steve Wollaston on Apr 29, 09 02:22 PM

Something about the actual cover sleeve of this game made me think it was going to be bad... now I am not for one minute saying that I would ever judge a game by its cover - but this screams at you to leave it on the shelf.

In a city overrun with mutant humans you must use your ninja skills and unique ninja weaponry to overthrow the savage mutants and restore law and order back to Tokyo.

Its yawn inducing and mundane, tired and ridiculously samey samey - the gameplay does save it somewhat though.

There is a lot of weapons and magic to throw around and the real key to mastering it is using the right weaponry at the right time, there is a good strategic edge to what is essentially a fairly standard button-masher.

Graphically the game is fine, possibly not as strong as it should be for a next-gen game but there are some nice effects and use of different camera angles in battle. There are also some really epic cinematic cut scenes that give the game a glossier overlook.

A lot of variety in the weapons you can use and the general enjoyment of hacking and slashing save this from being a really low-end title.

Oh and before I forget some really good end of level bosses!
