Millennium Championship Paintball 2009 (360)

By Steve Wollaston on Apr 29, 09 02:22 PM

I have total and utter respect for Activision in releasing a niche game and attempting something different, I spend half my life reviewing the same types of game so it was nice to get my hands on something a little different.

Yes sorry you got it - BUT - this isn't the game I hoped it would be.

This game will appeal to a very small group of people - paintball enthusiasts, if you are like me and your paintball encounters are limited to getting bruised in a cold field on a stag do by John Rambo enthusiasts you probably won't get it.

The game carries over the niche feel and actually does capture the essence of paintball quite well, the arenas are very nicely designed and the career mode is both rewarding and well crafted.

For me though this game was not only too repetitive and clunky I also felt it was a bit dull.

Being able to use a gun with the Wiimote livened it up a bit but for me the experience was limited and not great.

I bow to the greater knowledge of paintball enthusiasts - this may be great, but in my eyes as a neutral gamer I didn't really get anything out of this.

Steve Wollaston - Sunday Mercury games reviewer Steve has been writing about video games for donkey's years. In fact he is probably far too old for it now which is why you will see a lot of reviews been done by kids... He has been nominated three times for Regional Games Journalist Of The Year at the Games Media Awards, but never wins. His major love is sports games and rates Sensible World of Soccer circa 90's as the greatest game ever made - closely followed by Championship Manager 2. Skyrim has currently taken over his life.
