de Blob (Wii)
THQ
Probably the most nichey title you will play this year and one of the wackiest too.
de Blob is the story of a battle against an evil corporation who have banned fun and removed all colour - your aim is to spread the fun and the colour wherever you go!
Anything and everything in your path throughout the city can be blitzed back to life with color as you bounce and flip around the landscape, you are a blob by the way that kind of oozes and splats colour.
The game uses a nice mix of challenges, puzzles, platform action and keeps you interested with a lot of variety and manic action.
This is a very bold game, a very unique game and most importantly a lot of fun, the kids loved it in my house and I liked the brief look at it I have had when I could get console control.
The game is very neatly and cleverly put together, the graphics are bright and quirky as you would expect from the subject matter but it also has a very fresh and jazzy soundtrack with a lot of cool sound effects.
This game won't be for everyone, but in our house it was a big hit indeed and a nice refreshing change for the Wii. The game feels right and acts right, there is something immensely satisfying about the whole game, this is destined to become a cult game on the Wii.
