Bring on South Africa!
Man what a victory last night!!
As an England football fan, I have had to endure many painful nights during the lengthy and arduous qualification processes for major tournaments, nights which have left me with profound memories, full of anguish and angst, and some full of joy (Beckham against Greece anyoneâŠâÂÅ last minute free kick? I fell over backwards in a bar in Sutton, and knocked over a bunch of skinheads table full of drinksâŠâÂÅ .and they didn't care âÂÂcos we were off to the EuroâÂÂs!)
So last night, after 7 flawless qualifying games under Capello, I just assumed that something would go wrong, a disastrous own goal or a dreaded keeper miskick were all playing on my mind, hell I even contemplated the possibility that an angered ladybird might fly into GreenâÂÂs eyes as he went to collect a backpass, rendering him temporarily blind, and while he floundered away wondering why Mother Nature was so cruel, up steps Slavan Bilic himself to knock the ball over the line with his earringâŠâŠâŠâÂÅ .you never knowâŠâŠâÂÅ it could of happened!!
But no, instead of nail biting drama and tense anxious moments, we looked pretty damn good from the start, scored early and never looked back. What has Capello done to this England team?? Next thing youâÂÂll know we will be experts at the dreaded penalty shootout!!
Seriously though, what Capello has done is immense, I do feel there has always been a lot of talent in our squad, but wow has he shown all the other managers how you get a team focused, and doing their jobs!
Plus the whole confidence thing is freaky, no longer do our players try and spend the whole 90 minutes away from the ball so as not to be lambasted the next day in the press, nayâÂÅ ..now they all actually look hungry for actionâŠâÂÅ .almost as if they want to try and win the game???
I genuinely never thought we would see that in an England team, now if Capello could just go and spend some time with our One Day cricket squad that would be ace!!
They were rubbish, but I am not even going to dwell how bad we were at the cricket, instead I am simply going to salute our England manager and team for ensuring next summer I will be stuck indoors for a month doing nothing but watching our boys hopefully march to glory!! Saaaweeeet!
Although if they could find it in their hearts to give us something to moan about, that would be ace, all this talk of victory and how good we are is unsettling, I mean we are English after all, we like a moan!
