Onions takes another Wicket.jpg

First up well done England, not something I get to say that often, even more so when you consider it is aimed at our much maligned test team. They managed to roll over the West Indies at Lords in 3 days and in doing so sealed their first victory in an opening test match for 15 series.

Kudos must go the selectors who went with Onions and Bopara, playing the latter at 3 for the first time, and it seemed everything they touched turned to gold. Ravi's first innings ton set the foundations for this victory, but it was our spirited bowling performance that would have made the cricketing world take note, spearheaded by the young Durham seamer who claimed a Michelle in the first innings and backed that up with a couple of vital wickets in the second.

This was in no means a one man show though, with Swann, Broad, and Anderson all bowling superbly, showing a certain level of aggression that had previously been missing.

It really was a top team performance, and for once showed that England have the ability to be clinical, so will the Aussies be shaking in their Ute's at the prospect of facing us during the Ashes?

Maybe not yet, as their Wunderkind Phillip Hughes who is playing for Middlesex has now scored 500 odd runs in just four innings in the County Championship, but just imagine if a fit Freddie could come in for Bresnan (who was unlucky not to get much action, 7 over's in fact, also on debut) and then not only do we have a very strong batting line up, but an attack to take on the best in the world.

So bring on the next test match at the Riverside on Thursday, its Onions home ground so expect to see him even more pumped up, although for the fans sake I hope the game lasts more than 3 days!

The Tigers take on old Rivals Bath at the Walkers.jpg

This weekend also sees a phalanx of uber high pressure games known of the Play-offs, not only the ail biting golden chalice of the football Playoffs first leg, but the end of season ménage a quatre that is the Rugby Premier league playoffs where the top four teams playoff to decide who is the seasons best side.

I love playoff time, in football each minute that passes seems to up the tension and create more pressure on the sides desperate to not see a whole seasons work go to waste. On the show today I will be covering the League One Semi Final First leg between two clubs who deserve to be playing in the Championship next year, MK dons and Leeds.

The Dons had a poor run in to the end of the season, while Leeds are on fire with their star striker Jermaine Beckford leading the line, and they are by far the form side coming in to this match, although one thing we know is that playoffs can make a mockery of the form guide.

The game I'm looking forward to the most is in the world of Egg Chasing, where my beloved Leicester Tiger take on the old enemy Bath at the Walkers Stadium. Leicester are fresh from their thrilling win against the Cardiff Blues last weekend in the Heineken Cup semi, but they come against a Bath side that can compete with the best of them on their day.

I expect this to be a full blooded affair, with no quarter given or taken, and I can see Leicester nailing it by ten........I hope!

The Baggies must win to have any chance to stay up.jpg

If the playoffs don't fill you full of excitement, well how about the fact that today is effectively D-Day for the Baggies, 6 points from safety with 3 games left, if they don't get a point today it's effectively all over for Mowbray and his charges, especially if Hull can nick a point at home against Stoke, and I will be taking a close look at these games on the show today, as well as all the other crunch matches in the Premiership and even the vital old firm game in the SPL.

If all this wasn't enough for you, there is also the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend, with qualifying taking place today at 1pm, and it looks as if Ferrari have finally got a car which they can bring to the title race, albeit after Brawn have already taken advantage of their massive head start. I have Lewis Hamilton on the show discussing his chances on the race, the advancements Mclaren have made with their car and how he has adjusted to being an also ran instead of race leader this season.

We have been big supporters of FF since they began, and you have to check out their sefl titled debut album as its electro tastic! If it wasnt enough that they played a blinding set, they also signed the Streetbike R6 which we will be auctioning off for the TCT later in the year. Top boys!
