Loving the Sun, my new project and The Mighty Gooners!

By Luke Wilkins on Mar 18, 09 04:02 PM

Yes............get in!! I work with a number of Hull City supporters, and finally I have managed to shut them up after their 2-1 victory at the Emirates earlier this season. Yes, Gallas was offside, yes, we were awful in the first half, yes, we just scraped it, but the fact is we are through to the Semi finals of the FA Cup!!!
Fabregas wanders onto the pitch after our 2-1 win over Hull, he looks like he has a particularly dry mouth
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahha!! Sorry Hull fans, you truly deserve credit for how your team has represented in the premier league this year, but now things are not looking good, with about 1 win in 4987 games and even Phil Brown starting to lose the plot, claiming Fabregas spat at his assistant.....then changing it to "Well he spat at his feet............." sounds like someone clutching at straws!

Anyway, I have mostly been loving the weather this week, as the sun has finally come out and I have been out and about on my new motorbike, a Suzuki Gladius 650 from those lovely people at Streetbike, for my new blog called the Motorcycle Diaries which you can read online in the Mail from Friday. The concept behind it is that each week I get myself a new motorbike, and then use that as my sole form of transport for my everyday rock and roll (like going food shopping......erm!) duties, writing it all up at the end of the week and including my review of said machine......it's a hard life. Anyway, hopefully it will be a really good read, and if nothing else there should be some nice shiny pics of bikes in it!

Something else exciting is that now we are ready to auction off my Yamaha R6 (again thanks to Streetbike.co.uk!) to raise cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust, after having most of the bands that have come in to Kerrang over the last year sign it! We will be putting the bike on eBay in a public auction, and I will post the links to the sale here later in the week, so if you fancy grabbing yourself not only one of the finest motorbikes ever made but a piece of rock history, you best start saving your pennies!

Training wise this week has been immense, ever since the start of the year, Scott at Arch 20 Gym in the Jewellery Quarter has been helping me build up to my maximums where you see how much you can lift for one rep. You may think this sounds easy, but trust me its not and just today I spent over 2 hours dead lifting.............oh joy of joys! But the results have been amazing, and I must admit, even after all of this effort I can't wait till rugby training tonight with the Bee's.

The lads are having another "down" week this week as it is very easy for these guys to burn out before the end of the season, and the idea is that you keep things ticking over, without trying to kill yourself. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed training with the guys over the last week, and as a player who never quite made it to the fully pro ranks, its awesome to see what the next level entails. Also it's great the guys let me train with them, even if I might never actually play a game as I work Saturday afternoons, (Honest......not 'cos I'm rubbish!) but hey, the banter, laughs, and fun (!) conditioning work make up for that. I must admit at the moment I have never felt fitter or stronger, and I can't wait to see what Russell (the Bee's head coach) has in store for us tonight after watching a DVD of their 80-5 win over Mounts Bay at the weekend.

I will also be DJ'ing the usual mix of rock, indie, electro and whatever hell I want at Gatecrasher tonight, and it should be a good 'un, as it's the "Carnage" crawl that happens once a term, the last time it happened my Fizzy Pop room was inundated with sexy Smurfs, Oompah Loompahs, and some of the craziest dancing I have ever seen! If you fancy popping down, I will be there from 10pm, and make sure you make an effort for the Space fancy dress theme!

So tomorrow I will be up at 6.30 am (after getting to bed at 3am - I'm hardcore!) for training with the boys, plus heading in to work for my show, then its all about an early night (How sad is that......I'm looking forward to a quiet night in!) before writing my review of the weekends sporting action for you on Friday afternoon, and wow is there a lot happening.....including the finale of the Six Nations......so catch you then amigo's!
