Brawn, Button, Beckham and the Boat Race!
Formula One made a welcome return at 7am yesterday morning out in Melbourne, and wasn't it great to see ridiculous well paid men spending a couple of hours driving round and round without actually going anywhere!
Honestly if Jensen Button was a taxi driver he would be rubbish......you'd go everywhere fast, but end up where you started from...........luckily he isn't and he netted a very impressive win for his new team!

I was up doing my show, and managed to catch some of the action, but then watched it all again at 1pm in the afternoon, and it has to said, I love everything about the new season. Brawn GP managed a historic one-two, there was a whole world of exciting driving and of course crashes, there was tension towards the end as it looked like Button might be caught, there was sun, and my favourite thing had to be the new KERS system employed by some of the teams.
The idea of having a "boost" button may have seemed a tad pointless before the race with lots of teams saying it wouldn't make that much difference, but during the race it was obvious (just from the start!) that it actually does add a massive advantage for overtaking and for defensive driving too, and I expect for the teams that didn't have it active to be frantically sticking the system on now with sellotape if they can!
Also top work from Lewis, to start 18th and end up taking 3rd place is remarkable when you think that I would have had more chance of winning in my 4 year old nephews pedal car a couple of weeks ago. He simply drove as hard as he could, and it bodes well for the McLaren if they can perform like this when they expected to be well of the pace.

Oh but one thing, I thought the BBC presentation was blooming awful!! I have been waiting ages for the Beeb to host F1 again, as ITV weren't all that, but Jake Humphreys was about as charismatic as my middle left toe (he can be a handful on nights out to be fair) and the actually commentary team seemed like they had no idea either a. what was actually going on or b. seemingly could string a sentence together.....not that I'm jealous................honest...................!
Seriously, sort it out!!

England strolled to a win against Slovakia in a game that was a casual walk in the park in a game that saw David Beckham become Pope....I mean our most capped outfield player, although it wasn't great to see our sick note strikers all get crocked, honestly, they were going down quicker than the England batting order. Talking of which, did you notice we actually won a game yesterday.....what's all that about, and it wasn't through the Windies feeling sorry for us like in the first game either. Unbelievably we could actually win the one day series in the decider on Friday, but I think it would be rather harsh on them if we did. Oh and someone send KP home, he is obviously not happy with the setup and needs a break, although it does strike me as a huge case of the sulks!
I also enjoyed the Boat race yesterday, having been a keen rower myself and normally heading down to Putney for the big day, it was kind of strange lying in bed watching it yesterday!!! My boys Oxford won again, but it was a lot closer than I expected, and I cant tell you how much I used to enjoy rowing when I was at Uni............although I am glad I don't have to do it now, as those lycra one pieces really look as camp as Christmas, even if you were like me and used to stick a banana down the front to make yourself look cool!

Finally did you see that Tiger managed to win his 1st tourney since his come back from injury, and ominously for his fellow golfers, you could see how much it meant to him, in other words, watch out Tigers Back!!!!
Today we had The Enemy pop in ahead of their two night residency at the Academy in Brum to sign the Offside/Streetbike R6, which will be getting auctioned at the start of next week by the looks of things!!!!
Here are the boy's posing with the bike, and I will let you know when the auction starts, plus check out the next chapter in the Motorcycle Diaries which I uploaded on Friday!

This weeks see's my training get cranked up a notch after a nice rest week, and I looking forward to getting back on the pitch with the Bee's tomorrow having let me knee recover, although doing my max's on legs today, it has to be said I actually thought my legs had fallen off. I did manage to squat 160kg though which I was rather happy with!
Good news too, the Bee's won again on Saturday against Cinderford 36-10, in what sound like a hard game, but one in which they were able to cut loose in the second half. With only a few games remaining in the season, promotion to National One is now in our hands, so the order of the day is stay focused and keep the edge to our training that we have had over the last few weeks.
Bring it, is what I say!
