The League of Champions!!!!

By Luke Wilkins on Feb 25, 09 06:35 AM

Van Persie was a major nuisance for the Roma defenceSo last night, instead of going on my weekly snowboarding jaunt to Tamworth Snowdome, I instead settled in for a night of Champions League action.

The sad part was I was watching in bed as I had to get up at stupid o'clock for my show as always, but the cool part was that after all the hype, all the rhetoric spoken about how Serie A is miles ahead of the Premier league, our boys done us proud!

My beloved Arsenal should have had six at the Emirates against Roma, and Man United were by far the better side in the 1st half against Mourinho's Inter, even if they faded towards the end, and should have come away with more than a draw.

Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo go head-to-head for supremacy in Italy.jpgSo what does this mean for English football, well it goes to show that the Premier League really is one of, if not THE Best league in the world, obviously there is the return leg for both these sides, and I feel Arsenal will regret not scoring more at home, but you do feel that United can handle anything that is thrown at them at Old Trafford.

Although watching the Gooners last night, you have to wonder how they have been so lacklustre in the league this year when they look so assured in Europe. Bring on Liverpool and Chelsea who are in action tonight against Real Madrid and Juventus respectively!

Leon Best (left) celebrates his FA Cup winner with Clinton Morrison.jpgIt was great to see a Cupset last night when Coventry beat Blackburn 1-0 at the Ricoh Arena, and they now reach the last 8 for the first time in 11 years, although things weren't so good for the Blues who failed to win again against Palace, and they really seem to be having issues at the moment, especially when it could all have been so different if Cameron Jerome hadn't missed the howler on the line in injury time, Alex McLeish's side just can't buy a goal at the moment.

One thing to watch today is whether Pakistan's Younis Khan can beat Brian Lara's record test score of 400 not out, as over night against Sri Lanka he is on 306*, with a day to play, and with no result possible his captain has said he will not declare, so its on like Donkey Kong!
Younus becomes only the 20th batsman to score a triple Test century
Ah well, I may not have got my weekly snowboarding fix last night, but I did get a chance to practice my guitar for the first time in a week, and it was a nightmare, as I had completely forgotten all the previous stuff I had learnt! Note to self, never take a day off practice again!

I'm DJ'ing in Gatecrasher tonight, in the back room, so come down if you fancy some rock, indie, electro, and just general dirtiness, plus pop back on Friday to see my preview of all the weekends sporting action!
