Mummy I'm a Boarder & Some Worthy Causes!

By Luke Wilkins on Jan 28, 09 03:24 PM

Look at me! Updating my blog on a regular basis, aren't I crazy!!

Actually, so much has happened since Wednesday that I felt I had too, its one of the big misnomers that people have about radio presenters that we have lots of time on our hands, but I promise you, while some might, I made a conscious decision to fill my every hour of my day with productive stuff................kind of!

Anyway - since Monday I returned to the slopes of the Mighty Tamworth Snowdome with my instructor AT, and I can't believe it, but after only two lessons I have now reached the stage where I am what is known as a "recreational Boarder" i.e. I can hit the slopes, even do the black runs without any fear!

It is such a crazy feeling when you hit the slope, it's almost spiritual and I can't thank AT enough for making what can be a very hard sport seem so easy, man if I a rugby thug like me can do it, anyone can! And it is so much fun, its always one of those things that I never thought I would do (being a more conventional sportsman playing rugby, cricket, footy etc), but now I can happily go on holidays with the lifelong boarders here at Kerrang and do what is known as "Shred".....okay I still haven't got the lingo, but in time my friends in time!

Heskey.jpgAnd look at the mighty Villa, up into joint second in the Premier League, and with that man Heskey scoring on his debut.........I could of sworn I might have written something about him being the missing piece of the Puzzle for Villa in my column on Sunday.....oh hang on I did!! *Cue a very smug Wilkins* Although United look very dangerous at the top, and they destroyed the Baggies without breaking a sweat, it's going to be the best Premier ship season ever!!!

Also today we had The Rifles come in, London's finest who have a new album "Great Escape" out, and they helped me out by signing the Offside Streetbike R6 (see all the bands who have signed it here) for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and also posed for another Charity that I'm a Vice President for, Special Effect, and the man behind it Matt Hampson.

Matt Hampson is one of the most inspirational people I have ever met, an England U21 rugby player who got paralysed from the neck down during a game, but who has gone on to do some incredible things, and who I can genuinely say has changed the way I think about life.

Matt is organising, and I will be getting involved in, an upcoming walk from the home of Rugby......funnily enough Rugby, to Twickenham to raise cash for the Matt Hampson trust and Special Effect, and you can read this incredible mans story here, and find out more about the walk, see some Uber rugby stars who are getting involved talk about it, and find out how you can get involved head here.

Tonight I'm DJ'ing at Gatecrasher (check out the pic, you can see why I do it...it's for the money honest!)once more, playing the best in rock, indie and electro in the Fizzy Pop room, come down from 10pm, its should be a crazy one, and tomorrow we have one of my favourite bands in the world coming in Mindless Self Indulgence before their headlining performance at the Academy later as part of the Kerrang relentless Energy drink tour.........I cant wait, and I'll let you know how it goes on Friday with my next update!
