Kerrangfest, Robinho, Leicester Tigers, and the return of the Ryder Cup...

Kerrangfest tastic!
Wow! I am still buzzing from the awesomeness that was Kerrangfest on Sunday here in Brum! I was lucky enough to be hosting most of the day, and thanks to everyone that came down, I kid you not when I say that bouncing with 20,000 people in Centenary Square to the Levellers will go down as one of the best moments in my life!
Also on a more surreal note I was asked by various young women to sign bits of there body in permanent marker, I almost felt famous, until they asked why I had signed it Luke and not Johnny Doom, I then pointed out he was the other long haired rock presenter, and I hoped that the ink wasn't permanent, it was - doh!
It did mean though that I missed the last day of the cricket season for Harborne CC, and also Lewis Hamilton's amazing drive at Monza in the wet. That man has so much talent, if only his team could sort out which tyres they wanted, he would have walked it. Still 7th place starting from 15th is a great result, and the pint sized Englishmen has said that rates up there with one of his best ever drives in the wet!
In the footy, it was good to see that becoming billionaires overnight doesn't immediately change your fortunes on the pitch as Man City lost at home to Chelsea, but then again, Robinho did look good, and I wouldn't bet against Man City beating a few more teams at Eastlands before the season is out.
Chelsea once again looked immense, and I have to admit I can't see many teams being able to keep with them this year, especially with Man Utd having such an awful start, I bet there were quite a few happy footy fans when the 'Pool beat them 2-1 on Sat, especially after they had taken such an early lead. It was nice to see Arsenal continue where they left off before the international break, with a resounding 4-0 win over Paul Ince's Blackburn.
In fact, the game could have been 8-4, the Gooners were passing it around so well, and thank goodness Santa Cruz wore his gardening boots instead of his footy ones, otherwise it might have been a bit closer, and another great result for the Villa away at Tottenham on Monday, I must admit I am loving seeing Spurs propping up the table, and even the Baggies managed a win with an amazing 3-2 victory at home to West Ham.
There was also another win for the mighty Leicester Tigers on Sat in the rugby against Wasps conquerors from last week, London Irish. Although to be fair, I would love it if the boys didn't leave it so close again this season, as once more I didn't have many nails left after their pulsating 24-22 win. I hope it won't be long before they learn to run things a bit better off Toby Flood at 10, because he is starting to look every bit the world class stand off.
Wasps lost again which surprised me, especially against Worcester, and there will be a few inquisitions going on at their HQ this week, with I imagine some rather hard training taking place too. And a big congrats to Gloucester who won away at Bath for the first time in 4,789,305 years, okay, maybe its not been that long, but it was over 20 years!
On a sad note, it's the end of the cricket season for me now, having missed out on Sunday to be dancing like my dad to the free rock music, and now there are no more games, although to be fair, the weather did it's bit to ruin my season, with the last 7 games being called off for - ah well, winter nets start in October, and anyway, its perfect weather for rugby, and I am loving the training that I am doing down at Camp Hill RFC, they are top lads, and you never know, if I can get a Saturday off I might even get a game for them!
This week see's the return of the Champions League, with some French manager moaning that English teams always dominate it, and that it is bad for the tournament. I'm sorry, a Frenchman, moaning because we are too good, priceless! Maybe we should come up with some sort of handicap system where the English teams start with -2 goals, OR you could just stop your moaning, concentrate on coaching your team and perhaps making them better so they don't get stuffed so much.
If the return of the Biggest European footy tournament doesn't wet your whistle, how's about the Ryder Cup??
I love my golf, and even though I am not exactly the worlds best player, well I'm not even the best player in my flat to be fair, but I do love the Ryder Cup, where mostly middle aged men wearing plaid do battle, in one of the greatest sporting events around. Lets just hope that the awful outfits the European guys were wearing (a black bomber jacket, right!) don't ruin there chances of rubbing the Americans noses in it again, because come on, there is no greater sight in the world than the Americans losing.
No Monty this year, but the most miserable man in sport should not have expected a wild card, when he has been playing about as well as my mum recently, ah well, I can see Monty making a comeback, but for heavens sake cheer up man, you get paid millions of pounds to walk about hitting a little white ball, some of us would give anything to have that chance, so the least you could do is smile!
I'm in for the lovely Emma Scott this week doing 11am-3pm as she is poorly, so listen out for me, especially on Wednesday when I will be chatting to Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics, and playing there new single.
I am so excited to speak to Kelly, as I am a big fan, but I am worried that I wont be able to stop myself from taking the mick out of him for being a Welsh midget, bring on the banter, although you best tune at 11am as it might be a rather short chat!
