Joe Hart on the spot

Grab a copy of this weekend's Sunday Mercury to get Blues goalkeeper Joe Hart's thoughts on this:

Carson Yeung's press conference

By Andy Walker on Aug 26, 09 02:22 PM

Here's some footage from Grandtop International Holding's press conference, held in Hong Kong earlier this week, where Carson Yeung laid out his plans for Birmingham City.

Unfortunately a Mandarin translator is needed but look out for a much-younger Alex McLeish tackling Wolves legend Steve Bull.

(Thanks to liveblog contributor Blue09 for bringing this to my attention)

Here's the latest episode of Blues View (post-Stoke) where me and Colin Tattum look back at Saturday's stalemate, the positivity and negativity around St Andrew's and, of course, the latest on the Carson Yeung takeover.

We've been told that Carson Yeung and his people are watching, so why don't you?

So it looks as though Carson Yeung finally means business with his takeover of Birmingham City.

Well let's hope so, because otherwise we will have to rename his firm Grandtop, Bigtop - if the latest bid descends into another St Andrew's circus.

The punishment dished out to Dean Richards following the Harlequins fake blood scandal has shocked the rugby world. vampire.jpg

But what is even more shocking is not the fact that somebody would be sick enough to think up such a con - but the fact that they thought they would get away with using an effect so fake that it wouldn't even pass on a badly-dressed vampire at a kid's Halloween fancy dress party. It looked as Tom Williams had been drinking diluted tomato juice.

The Premier League season is back and so is Blues View!! Check it out........

Who do you think is feeling worse this morning?

- Neil Warnock after Crystal Palace's goal that never was against Bristol City?

-The rest of the men's 100 metre sprinters following the realisation that they will forever be trailing in the wake of superhuman Usain Bolt?

-Or Paddy Power bookmakers, who paid out $2.1 million after being convinced that Tiger Woods would win the US PGA title?

Happy Beye's in tune

By Andy Walker on Aug 13, 09 10:47 AM

I noticed that there was a poor excuse of a football chant contest on Sky Sports News today. A Southend fan and his son were crowned winners for, basically, their pointing rather than their actual singing.
HabibBeye150.jpg

Surely Aston Villa can now claim to have the best terrace chant in football following the capture of Habib Beye from Newcastle last week.

The Toon Army famously bellowed out the below lyrics to the tune of 'Happy Days' throughout his two year stay at St James' Park:

"Sunday, Monday, Habib Beye
Tuesday, Wednesday, Habib Beye
Thursday, Friday, Habib Beye
Saturday, Habib Beye, rocking all week with you!"

However it appears that that is not the only ode to the Senegal defender as there is a host of other Beye-related tunes from where that came from on a website recommended by the man himself.

The cleverly named http://www.beyewatch.co.uk/ has a host of chants to the new Villa boy, including songs to the tune of 'Hallelujah', Wizzard's 'I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday' and 'Little Donkey'.

Certainly worth checking out if you get the chance.

Just as it appeared that Blues had enough on their plate with barely any fit defenders and a daunting trip to Old Trafford on the horizon, the name Carson Yeung reappears.

In this Blues View special, myself and chief sports writer Colin Tattum talk about the latest whispers from the Far East.

Jonathan Trott's call-up to the England squad for the fourth Ashes Test was pleasing to hear as it proves that the selectors are genuinely keeping an eye on the Championship and not just turning to the same old, tired faces.

The Warwickshire man's form with the bat has been superb and he deserves his chance if he's eventually given the nod to take to the field at Headingley.

Although Worcestershire's Stephen Moore, a fellow South Africa-born batsman, must be kicking himself as he would have equally been in contention had it not been for his county's poor form this season.
