But hold on a minute...a north-east accent, a love of the South American game, more soccer superlatives than a poet writing about the all-conquering Brazilians of the 1970s, a rose-tinted romantic view of the sport of football - is this not West Brom boss Tony Mowbray in another guise?

It has been brought to my attention that Wolves' and England's newest starlet Michael Mancienne has an uncanny resemblance to a fellow Three Lions international and a footballer that used to represent a team on the West Midlands patch.

But it remains to be seen whether Mancienne takes being compared to England and ex-Birmingham City Ladies star Rachel Yankey as a compliment....
