A tribute to Andy Cole

By Andy Walker on Nov 11, 08 06:21 PM in

Legendary hot-shot Andy (sorry should that be Andrew?) Cole has finally decided to call it a day and bring an end to a glittering career that saw him smash 187 Premier League goals.

The former England man was often dubbed Andy Goal and in his 19 years in football he represented 12 different clubs - Arsenal, Fulham, Bristol City, Newcastle, Manchester United, Blackburn, Manchester City, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Sunderland, Burnley and Nottingham Forest.

Sitting second behind Alan Shearer in the all-time Premier League scoring chart, Nottingham-born Cole is now looking to concentrate on a coaching career.

So I've decided to upload the below youtube clip as a tribute to the end of Andy Cole the footballer. But he didn't just produce 'magic' on the pitch because ladies and gentleman I give you Andy Cole the pop star..........

Now that is outstanding!

He never took penalties though.

If he had hit a few from the spot I reckon he would have overtaken Shearer.

I'm not too sure about that, Shearer had 261 Premier League goals so that would have meant that Cole would have had to taken at least 75 penalties to be the Geordie. Mind you, you could argue that Man U are awarded more penalties than mosts sides at home.

P.s. Did anyone see what Cole was wearing during his interview on Sky Sports News? It looked like something from a Beatles album cover!

There is no doubt Andy Cole was a top striker. But he needed a few chances to score in a game. If someone said Alan Shearer would only have one chance in a match, you'd back him to bag a goal but Andy Cole...?!
If Robbie Fowler or Michael Owen had played in that Man Yoo team with Cantona, Giggs, Beckham, Scholes et al then they would have had a chance to match or even beat Shearer's record.

But sod all that. Where's Half Full, Half Empty?????
