Reem launch for Adee Phelan

By Sarah Morris on Oct 5, 11 11:34 PM in Style

So I'm finally updating you on what I should have updated you on a week ago; Adee Phelan's salon launch. And oh baby, was that a launch. My highlight was... well, I'll tell you that later.

Promising to be filled with celebs and "A-listers", I have to admit I was dubious; aside from myself being in attendance of course (darlings, it's only a matter of time before I am enlisted), I expected the usual Brummie media crowd/luvvies (delete as appropriate) that this sort of event attracts, I expected to see councillor Mike Whitby, I expected to see a couple of Birmingham's presenters and newsreaders from ITV central and the BBC... I secretly hoped that since Adee is the creative shears behind many a haircut of Mr David Beckham (sigh) we might get a special guest appearance from him... no such luck. However, despite no super "A-lister" such as the delightful Mr Beckham, I was pleasantly surprised by a plethora of Corrie stars! Although it might have been a little better if I was a Coronation Street fan; as it happens I don't watch it.

I did recognise the one and only Keith Duffy - once of Boyzone fame - who I must say was looking mighty fine. My fave Blue boy, Simon Webbe, was also present. Now, at this point I would normally be getting a little excited, however as nice as he looked, to my disappointment he just didn't measure up in height against my high heels. Such a shame. They're often very short are these celebs. Except of course for George Lamb, who is quite a giant, albeit a beautiful one.

Surprise of the night came in the form of he of the leopard print thongs - Peter Stringfellow. Now, no disrespect to the guy, but being short and a little on the old side, God only knows how he pulls such beautiful blondes. It must be the money.. oh yeah.

Me and Joey Essex!.jpg

Mr Stringfellow aside however, what really made my evening was the sight of mr reem himself, Joey Essex of The Only Way is Essex fame. And what a lovely boy he was. Although I must say I think he and I need to have a few words about those cut-off denim shorts and orange trainers he was sporting - as seen on the first episode of the new series two days prior to the event. Oh Joey. Rumour on the street from a secret and slightly drunk source says that he might just think Sam, also from TOWIE, may have just used him to get more headlines. Poor Joey. He's such a lovely, and very pretty, guy (check out my not so clear as I'd like photo! That's me on the right, by the way).

Anyway my darlings, so that's the celeb count nearly done - other faces there included Dean Gaffney (what's a party wihout the Gaff-er hey), Suzanne Shaw, Imogen Thomas and everyone's favourite Brummie Alison Hammond, who, arriving just behind her I was ushered through a different roped entrance out of the way of her being photographed. Well. Don't they know who I am?? No actually. Oh well. And for the record I didn't actually say that. Or think it - as egotistical as you may think I am.

As for the rest of the party, the champagne flowed until the waitresses gave up serving through the crowds, so naturally I rolled my sleeve up and nearly dove head first into a wheelie bin full of icy water to pull out a fresh bottle of fizz - I'm a classy lady at times, I tell you. Once that had gone and the clock struck 9-9.30, it was time for the afterparty over at Bar Room Bar and well, that was a free bar. And there I think I shall end it.

I do have one more comment though.. iPads for the "celebs"? Who by the way can afford to buy one for themselves. No goody bags at all for the Brummies who are actually going to be the ones making the salon a success? Hmmm. If my maths is correct (and by the way I was very good at maths in school) something doesn't quite tally up there.

Keep up to date
