February 2011 Archives

This week was London Fashion Week; a week full of catwalk shows with the hottest top and upcoming designers showcasing their interpretations on the trends for the year ahead, and Frows (that's fashion-pack slang for 'front row') full of the hottest celebrities, 'It' boys and girls and fashion editors trying to out-style each other and drooling over the reams and reams of fabulous new creations sailing past them.
I would give you a run down of the best, the worst, the designers to keep an eye on and the trends you'll soon be wearing, but quite frankly all you need to do is check out the latest Vogue, Elle, Glamour magazine, or type 'London Fashion Week' into google and you'll be overwhelmed with offerings of exactly this type.

I think I'm having a deja-vu; just when you think she can't possibly go anymore "gaga"... she does. And so, it seems, does the rest of the celebrity world. Well, some of it.
Who am I talking about? The blatant clue is in the first line: Lady Gaga.
The lady is already well-known for her weird and wacky, often revealing outfits, or rather costumes, that would probably get most people arrested for indecency. And it appears to be rubbing off on a whole host of other celeb types. The fabulous Ri-Ri, on whom I and Cheryl Cole both share a "girl crush", at the Brits on Tuesday was sporting a rather tiny pair of pants and not much else as her stage outfit, and our very own Leona Lewis has even been having a dabble at designing her own outfits lately, being photographed wearing a giant pair of lips over her "bazookas". Saucy lady.

Calling all heel-lovers, stiletto wearers, Victoria Beckham, glamour girls and drag queens. We must come together in unity to fight for our high heel-wearing rights, for it seems a backlash looks set to hit upon us:
The FLATform.
Being hailed the 'hottest' new shoe for spring 2011, it has already penetrated the minds and designs of some of the top designers, namely Prada, Chanel and Derek Lam, and on my short trip down the high street earlier, I spotted a pair of copycats in H&M. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not good.

Being 'Bootlicious' is old news if the latest developments at Bravissimo, specialist bra-maker to the fuller breasted lady are to be believed. Apparently us Brits are rather more boobylicious than bootilicious!
Two years ago the lingerie expert launched the 'KK' sized bra, but it seems that's just not sufficient for the increasingly well endowed ladies amongst us, and they have now launched a new 'L'sized bra. Wow. And there was me getting excited that a C-cup has been feeling snug due to my recent late-twenties-aged spread. Suddenly, I feel like I've gone back in time to my early years, when your chest stops resembling that of a little boy's and excitedly you start shoving socks into your wire-less AA cup training bra...

It's the end of January; that depressing month where you run out of money almost immediately after the new year, and you try desperately to embark on some sort of strict diet or detox to rid yourself of that seemingly un-shiftable stone of weight you put on over the past year. We're used to it - it happens every year. And every year we are faced with TV shows, magazines, books giving us the lowdown on how to achieve that new, slim 'you'.
There's so much pressure, for women in particular, to be 'thin'. So how refreshing that morning TV show, ITV's Lorraine Kelly and my favourite glossy weekly, Look magazine recently joined forces to launch a search for the UK's next supermodel... with a minimum dress size 12! Hurrah!
