Fashion technology gets it in the neck!

By Sarah Morris on Jan 6, 11 05:39 PM in Fashion

I'm on a January detox; I've given up alcohol for the entire month. So I was going to talk to you all about new year detoxes, getting fit and healthy, losing weight yada yada yada, but then I thought "why would I do that when every other blog, article or column is doing exactly the same?" so I've found something even more unattainable to talk to you about instead. Unattainable if you don't own a small fortune that is. Not that I'm trying to poo-poo your new year detox and weightloss efforts before they've even begun (remember - I am doing the same) but come on, we're all human, we all make promises to ourselves every year and every year the majority of us fail to keep them. Maybe I shouldn't say fail - it apparently promotes negative vibes around your mind and self worth, or something like that.

So this mostly unattainable thing I'm going to talk to you about is technology. In jewellery. (Don't yawn yet please).

It was brought to my attention by a friend of mine on twitter who also blogged about it. Yeah, sorry, I've nicked your idea, but hey I've already typed more than you *wink*.

Apparently you can combine Bluetooth with diamonds and pearls and it actually looks quite nice. And ridiculously expensive. (If only Marilyn Monroe were still alive - she'd love it)
How do I mean? Well, the people at Novero, who are apparently a "radically creative technology company" have designed a range of necklaces for both men and women that incorporate a Bluetooth headset and speaker into their design. The diamond and pearl necklaces of course are for the ladies, although I'm sure there would be no objections from Novero if men decided they wanted one too. The headpiece is incorporated into the 'string' around the neck and the microphone is embedded into the pendant. To use the headpiece you simply unclip it from the string and place it in your ear. Clever hey?

Now, personally I will never be able to afford one, and actually am quite happy just holding my phone most of the time, but I can imagine for the fashion savvy gadget addicts amongst you, or the just plain bling bling "gotta have the latest thing", this would be the perfect purchase. (Cue long list of footballers and WAGs...). The pearl and diamonds are real you see, and the necklace is bespoke, ie it is made to fit and suit you.

But hold on.... there is an alternative to paying £1000's for a posh Bluetooth diamond. There are plainer necklaces on offer too - a "snip" you might say at prices ranging between £129 and £839 + P&P. Blingtastic. Ahem.

Where would we be without technology hey? Stuck to our landlines at home that's where... sorry what was that? What's a landline?
