Abseiling in leopard print and lace pants!
Forget Jonny Dangerous - think Diva Dangerous!
Today my lovely lovely people I scaled... well, not so much scaled, but abseiled down the side of the Fort Dunlop building... that would be approximately 120ft! Fantastic!
I would love to tell you all I also conquered the building in high heels...
but for once, I'm afraid to say, I was defeated due to health and safety reasons. Not that it has ever previously stopped me before, but you know, these important instructor types like to be oh so serious and not risk being accountable for one of their 'instructees' dying as a result of their bad instruction (teehee).
Anyway. My good friend 'Monsieur Dangeroux' (oh I do love a good French accent - if only Jonny boy had one as opposed to his delightful Barnsley growl) also performed this act of bravery. Naturally - he does everything that's apparently a bit 'white knuckle' (between you and me I think he has a silent death wish... except the only problem is he's actually more of a danger'mouse' than danger'man' - all his stunts are performed with fully qualified instructors - not like me performing my 'scaffold height heels-combined-with-wine' signature party trick...)
Personally I think he was, as he would put it, 'bricking it' before he got up there. Me? Not one jitter all along. Not even at the point of tipping myself over the edge. I was in fact slightly over-excitable all through the experience... until I got halfway down the building and my hand cramped up meaning I couldn't control the speed at which I descended, and the wall strangely became further and further away until I was seemingly taking straight legged toe pointed fairy steps down the wall. I also then looked down. Eek! Well, the only way was down so, after momentarily peeing my leopard print and lace pants - metaphorically speaking - I bit the bullet and got on with it, right to the bottom. Damn. It was over and I hadn't made one jump down the wall. What a wuss.
On a serious note. I completed the abseil in aid of The Stroke Association. I still have need a few more sponsors so please, if you have a spare couple of pounds, go to my justgiving page and donate - I will really appreciate it:
