Spot the difference in this image?
OK, so I very much doubt it will be a 'trend' big enough to be classed as the 'new black' equivalent of trends, however for some reason unbeknown to me, this week seems to be the week for gender swapping!
Take for example this evening. I've been at an event in a hotel. Now, when you hold an event in a hotel, inevitably you're going to be able to view the guests staying at the hotel, or just using the bar. Well this evening, there I was, almost minding my own business and chatting to a couple of colleagues on the balcony in this hotel., when my eyes dropped to the floor below... EEK! WHAT on earth is that below? Uncle Fester's girlfriend? It certainly looked like it! I could spot the bad make-up a mile off!
It appears I am now part of Birmingham's 'IT crowd', along with the footballers and their WAGS, if today's Birmingham Post is anything to go by. In the Friday section's review of the Harvey Nichols fashion show last Thursday, who would be captured on the front row? Yours truly of course!
Anyway, just thought I would share that with you.

Staying on the subject of shopping, has anyone checked out www.mercurycashback.com yet?
Now OK, before you go off thinking "oh here she goes, plugging a Sunday Mercury product"....
FREE CASH
NOW do I have your attention?
Unlike those evil emails people sometimes send with 'FREE BEER' in the subject line simply as a ploy to make you open it (and then it's about a work query or something), when I say FREE CASH, I actually mean FREE CASH!
On Monday I was delighted to receive a rare package at work - it contained not one, not two, but THREE perfumes! How exciting!
I looked at the perfumes... I've not seen these before I thought. Naturally I look to see the designer name: My heart sinking slightly, I discover there isn't a designer name. Still, not one to complain about a freebie I carry on to find out the names of the perfumes...
Well! This IS exciting indeed! The three have a brand name in common - 'Parfums Love'
Perfume no1: 'You and Me'
Perfume no2: 'My Love'
Perfume no3: 'First Kiss'
Forget Jonny Dangerous - think Diva Dangerous!
Today my lovely lovely people I scaled... well, not so much scaled, but abseiled down the side of the Fort Dunlop building... that would be approximately 120ft! Fantastic!
I would love to tell you all I also conquered the building in high heels...
So last night I went along for Harvey Nichols Birmingham's exclusive fashion show... and I have to say how fantastic it was!
Complimentary champers constantly refilled by very polite staff...lovely bubbly! (Sorry - I couldn't resist saying that)
And oh yes, the clothes. They were great... in fact my unfortunately very expensive, extensive wish list has now become considerably more expensive and extensive. Note how I say 'wish' list here...
Jimmy Choo has always been a favourite when it comes to shoes, and he did not fail when it came to finding my perfect pair for this season; gladiator inspired, patterned, super heels. Simply divine!
Primarni take note please - I am credit crunched and need you to hurry up and recreate them...

'Dress down' days. They're great right?
Now on the slightly rare occasion that I get to partake in a dress down day, naturally my initial reaction tends to go a little something like this:
"YES! FABULOUS!"
So this is great news - FINALLY I can roll in to work in my jeans, not have to sit with my legs crossed in a super lady-like fashion at my desk - (because naturally I'm in danger of someone crawling underneath and getting an unfortunate eyeful of my latest underwear craze!?) and ultimately enjoy a day off from looking so delightfully smart in order to out-style my fellow colleagues... although the make-up, hair style and six inch stiletto heeled boots are still a non negotiable - they stay no matter what.

If you've managed to pop into Selfridges, Birmingham over the last couple of days, you may have spotted a certain Mr Gok Wan... lucky you!
The style guru has been in Birmingham since Tuesday filming his new series of Gok's Fashion Fix, and he chose Selfridges' Bullring store as his location!
Naturally, myself being a fellow self confessed fashionista and style guru, I had to mosey on down to see for myself just exactly the extent to what I am up against. But quite frankly, I have to say, I was absolutely and categorically... disappointed!

Would YOU like to look like this?
London Fashion Week has been and gone. We all now know what fabulous trends we are going to be wearing in about 8 months time and we're all oh so inspired right?
My plan last week was to bring you a round up of what I thought were the highlights of the A/W 2009 catwalk shows... but all you need to do is Google search 'London Fashion Week' and you'll find plenty of accounts from plenty of other people saying pretty much the same sort of thing. Job done - thanks guys!
So instead, just to add to all the doom and gloom of the economic crisis (oh how we all love hearing about THAT everyday), I'm going to tell you what was wrong with London Fashion Week! (OK - now don't stop reading yet).
