London Fashion Week: Ladies in uniform... Westwood style
Yes. Just as we ladies (apparently) like our men in uniform, our men (apparently) like us ladies in School uniform. And never one to disappoint, the fashion genius that is Vivienne Westwood has inspired our soon to be Autumn/Winter 2009 wardrobe with a naughty dose of St Trinians style dress.
Forget Britney Spears boys, soon you'll find the streets laced with sexy ladies in uniform. But don't go mixing this up with the innocent little student look, as please remember, Westwood was a pioneer of punk fashion. Of sexy, but sexless fashion... or anti-fashion as she originally started out with... but don't go getting that mixed up with any overly kinky ideas either!
Westwood being a true ambassador for British culture manages over and over again to inject a theme of the quintessential Brit into her designs. A recognisable feature in all her collections (along with the Pirate style boots, slouchy trousers and belted oversized jackets of course), expect the usual Scottish tartans, along with Irish linen and English flannel and British barathea wool. Amazingly however, she always manages to avoid one collection ever being confused with another previous collection.
So these school uniforms. With a distinct air of the St Trinians naughty schoolgirl look, Westwood covers pretty much every schoolgirl personality from the tomboy, to the girly, to the squeaky clean to the promiscuous little devil and even a hint of Goth. I'd even say she managed to cover the teachers! So whatever your schoolgirl personality, you WILL find a suitable uniform to play with...
Watch out boys - the girls are coming to town this time around!

This. Is. Genius! Westwood never lets us girls down! Who wouldn't want to bring back over-the-knee socks, ridiculously short skirts, and blazers? More to the point, this is the one time in our lives that we can wear a white shirt and bright pink bra - yes, we *all* did it back in school!
The collection is gorgeous and I will certainly be queuing outside her Mayfair boutique to get my hands on a pair of tartan culottes. The attendance at HammersmithâÂÂs SchoolDisco.com is about to go through the roof!
