IT was the iconic fashion brand championed by Twiggy which helped England really swing during the 1960s.

The first Biba store opened in Abingdon Road, London, in 1964 and became hugely popular because it brought accessible fashion with attitude to women of all ages and shapes.

Now supermodel Daisy Lowe - girlfriend of Doctor Who Matt Smith - is following in the footsteps of Twiggy by fronting a new 2010 collection of the vintage range for House of Fraser in Birmingham.

Daisy, daughter of fashion designer Pearl Lowe, says: "I love all the pieces.

"They are representative of the brand's history and reputation - beautiful, simple and flattering cuts and luxury materials that make a woman feel great.

"I've got quite a few pieces me and my mum have found at vintage fairs over the years.

"We have a couple of amazing old Biba coats from the '70s and a beautiful button-down, long-sleeved black dress.

"I always remember it being the ultimate, amazingly cool brand with iconic style."

The new 2010 collection continues this theme and features lots of velvet, brocade and lurex in gold, black and bronze.

Biba Denim launches for the first time this season with a collection of smart and casual styles to fit all shapes, and there will be a limited edition collection of 10 maxi dresses.

Other highlights include a mid-length military jacket detailed with gold Biba buttons, a full-length leopard print coat and a backless velvet column dress in black or blood red.

Daisy, who is dating Midlands-born Matt, adds: "The long leopard coat looks great with denim shorts and a T-shirt or a mini-dress.

"And the blazer can be worn with anything to dress it up, jeans and a T-shirt or over a dress at night.

"And the black velvet backless dress... it's a really sexy show-stopping number!"
