'Ulysses 31 Redux' Director Dermot Canterbury had a seed planted in his noggin, like many of us did after having seen 'Ulysses 31' week days on BBC1 after school in the mid 1980s.

"Of all the cartoons of my childhood, there was one which held a strange fascination and still does. For a kid who loved sci-fi, ancient myth and electro-synth, Ulysses 31 was all you could wish for at 4.30 of an afternoon."

The memory of one of the greatest animated series ever was so strong, Dermot grew up & made this amazing live action intro!

Read more on Dermot's fascination with Ulysses 31 here.

Endhiran: A gifted scientist constructs an equally gifted robot, who sets out into the world for the first time with some unexpected and mind-blowing consequences. Good Lord!

Review: The Evil Dead - Blu-Ray

ED_BD_3D_packshot.jpg

The last time I watched 'The Evil Dead' was around 30 years ago, it was a 4th generation pirate VHS copy on a Ferguson Videostar with wonky tracking. Despite the picture rolling occasionally, and the warped audio, the memory of watching Sam Raimi's first feature is still a highlight of my movie watching youth. I was banned forever from a friends house after his mother discovered us watching it one afternoon. It was, after all, a title featuring heavily in campaigns against the 'Video Nasty'

Quite why it has taken me so long to get round to watching this "Video Nasty' again is a mystery, but here it is from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, bang up to date with a 1080p digital transfer to Blu-Ray, featuring 5.1 Dolby TrueHD sound, and loaded with hours of bonus material...

What's better than grabbing a new release DVD or Blu-Ray? Winning new release DVD or Blu-Ray, that's what!

Witness the destruction of the Earth in Roland Emmerich's 2012, released on DVD & Blu-Ray today, courtesy of Sony Pictures UK Home Entertainment. Reviewed previously on Anorak City

So read on, answer the competition question, and 2012 could be on it's way to you soon...

We are all going to die (at some point), but if the Mayan calendar is to be believed, we have just over 2 years left to make the most of what this planet has to offer us, because it is all going to end 21/12/2012 when the planets align to cause all manner of catastrophic events to occur.

What we did't know was what it is going to look like, until now. Director Roland Emmerich has gathered all his world smashing skills together to have one last pop at planet earth. Skills honed on previous ventures (Independence Day, Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow) And blasted out the screen with gusto.

Saw this while mooching about Nat Saunders Worm Hotel

The fan led campaign to bring attention to Sam Rockwell's performance as Sam Bell in Duncan Jones directorial MOON was cranked up a notch today by the release of a wonderful, tongue in cheek appeal video created by campaigner Chris Trevarthen

Spurred on by the lack of support from Sony Picture Classics when it came to sending out screener DVDs to Oscar Academy voters, fans from all over the world have met through social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, joined by a common desire to see an actor who has delivered a stunning performance, be recognized by his peers at the highest level, by receiving a nomination for Best Actor in the 2010 Academy Awards.

Very basically, if the studio are not promoting MOON to the academy voters (all 5,777 of them) then the fans will. With only 10 days to go until Oscar ballot return deadline (23rd January 2010), time is of the esscence. So, if you have seen MOON, loved Sam Rockwell's performance, and want to help out you can:
