A STAR Trek fan who turned his Midland home into a replica of the Starship Enterprise says he has "nightmares" about leaving it.

Tony Alleyne, 58, from Hinckley, Leicestershire, is being forced to sell after 10 years because of a split with his ex-wife.

So it turns out that King Abdullah II of Jordan is a huge Star Trek fan.

Who knew?

The secret Trekkie even had a walk-on part in Star Trek Voyager!

And now the incredibly wealthy Arab king is planning to build a Star Trek theme park to boldly go where nobody has gone before.

Planned for 2014, an 184-acre entertainment resort in the coastal town of Aqaba will feature the themed area.

Developer Rubicon Group Holding said: "The Star Trek-themed centre will deliver a varietyof multi-sensory futuristic experiences, culminating with a state-ofthe art space flight adventure that takes real-time immersive entertainment experiences to bold new
heights."

King Abdullah II, through his Fund for Development project, is the main local investor in the $1.5 billion project.

Star Trek captains unite

I want to see this now!

Old Kirk himself has been busy interviewing all the other Star Trek skippers for a rather nifty documentary called "The Captains".

It's just been screened for the first time over in the US so hopefully it's be beaming down to the UK very soon.

Ok so it's not strictly a rollercoaster but this footage from 1987 shows William Shatner opening the monorail at Alton Towers.

It is of course Mr Shatner's 80th birthday today - happy birthday Captain Kirk!

Well half of the Anorak City team knew this and half didn't.

If you are like me and you had no idea then watch this fascinating interview with William Shatner...

IF you've loved the Family Guy spoofs of the Star Wars trilogy, then we have good news for you.

Creator Seth MacFarlane is set to take the mickey-takes into a whole new universe.

He plans to boldly go where the series has not been before, and take on the institution that is ... Star Trek.

Seth says that while spoofing classic sci-fi movies is hard, he and his team have their eyes on the Star Trek films, although he warns we might not see them for a while.

The Family Guy Star Wars send-ups are Blue Harvest (A New Hope), Something Something Something Darkside (The Empire Strikes Back) and It's A Trap (Return Of The Jedi).

WRITER Roberto Orci, who is currently working on the sequel to the recent reboot of Star Trek, says it's more daunting than the first film.

"When we did the first one, I was aware I could ruin Christmas for a lot of people, not least my family, if we got it wrong.

"This time expectations are very high because the reboot went down well.

"And these are fans you take seriously. We read all the comments on and the message is:

'This one had better be better!"

SIMON Pegg says the plot of Star Trek 2 has been written - but he's still waiting to find out what it is!

The Burke And Hare star, who played Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott in JJ Abrams's' big screen version of the hit sci-fi series, reveals the rivalry between Captain James T Kirk and Spock is set to continue in the sequel, but they will be united by a common foe. A bit like the first movie, then.

Simon says: "It's been written now. I don't know what the story is. It's not 'til next year."

"They're busy hashing out the story and they're excited about it. Damian Lindelof had to finish Lost, and now they're at it.

"He has said that they're hoping to carry on the relationship between the crew, and they'll face a fearsome adver-sary.

A plea as a national hunt for trekkers begins

fanboys.jpg

The London International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film, or SCI-FI-LONDON as they like to be known, invites you to celebrate and salute geeks and the most hardcore of fans.
September 28 looks set to be one of the biggest gatherings of fanboys of the year with a special screening at Apollo Picadilly of Fanboys, a comic cinematic odyssey about four Star Wars obsessives who reunite on a cross country road trip. Their destination - George Lucas's Skywalker Ranch.
Geeks are being encouraged to arrive in their favourite uniforms and costumes, and while Darth Vaders, Stormtroopers, Darth Mauls, Biker Scouts and TIE Pilots have already confirmed attendance, there is a notable absence of Trekkers - even though the film features some irate Enterprise fans in pursuit of our heroes.

Probably the best sight gag ever committed to celluloid. On second thoughts, there's no probably about it...
