MARTIN SCORSESE is "brilliant", Kelly MacDonald has revealed.

The Scottish actress got to work with the acclaimed film-maker when he directed the pilot episode of Boardwalk Empire, which he also produces, in which she plays Irish immigrant mother Margaret Schroeder.

"He just talks and talks and talks, and it's fascinating - he's like a walking encyclopaedia," she said.

"He's read everything and he's seen everything. He's completely focused and he wants to get the most - things can always be better. He sees what you see in the script, but then on set he's brilliant. He makes really inspired choices."

The Expendables (2010 film)

JASON STATHAM has said he is well up for appearing in The Expendables sequel.

The action man would gladly reprise his role as Lee Christmas alongside Sylvester Stallone  in a second instalment - but refused to spill the beans about whether a sequel is confirmed.

"I have heard about a sequel and I'd be the first to say yes to a phone call from Sly," he told Collider.

"I mean, we spoke about it as soon as the movie started to do really well and he says, you know, it would be great to do this again, and if there's anyone who can do a good sequel it's Sly Stallone! He's done a fair amount."

The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare before Christmas

Year: 1993
Director: Henry Selick
IMDB Rating: 7.9/10

The Nightmare before Christmas is based in Halloween Town where we find the king of the pumpkins Jack Skellington. Jack leads the town every year in the most horrible Halloween possible. But he is tired of the same holiday year after year and when he discovers Christmas Town, he decides to bring Christmas to Halloween Town, the natives don't quite understand his vision though.

This is a film I've always fancied but just never got around to watching, seems strange to be watching a Halloween or Christmas film in January but here goes.

jack skellington.jpgThe film is pure Tim Burton at his best, although he doesn't direct the movie, he did write the story (based on an earlier poem) and the vision is undoubtedly his. The inhabitants of Halloween Town are some of the best creations I have ever seen in an animated film. A group of gruesome ghouls and ghosts but they are strangely likeable just like all of Burtons creations.

The songs and music, written by Danny Elfman, who also sings Jack's melodic thoughts are magical, they really set the scene and help us to understand what's going through the pumpkin kings head.

If you are a Burton fan then I'm sure you'll have seen this but if you like animation with a twist then just try it, you may not want to watch it in December but I'll be putting it on again on October 31st!

Favourite Scene: When Jack arrives back from Christmas Town and tries to get his Town mates on board.

IMDB Fact: It took a group of around 100 people three years to complete this movie. For one second of film, up to 12 stop-motion moves had to be made.

Endhiran: A gifted scientist constructs an equally gifted robot, who sets out into the world for the first time with some unexpected and mind-blowing consequences. Good Lord!

The Expendables (2010 film)

Bruce Willis has hinted that The Expendables sequel is expected to start filming this year, and that he may appear in it, reprising his cameo role as Church alongside Sylvester
Stallone, Jet Li, and Jason Statham.

"Apparently it's going to happen this year - as far as I know, barring any unforeseen circumstances, but yeah, I would love to be a part of it," he said.

Movie Mistakes: Terminator

By Steve Wollaston on Jan 26, 11 12:56 PM

IT'S not only the killer cyborgs that can change their appearance, you know.

Watch carefully as Arnold Scwarzenegger's stolen police car crashes, and you'll see a transformation.

When you see the car in the parking garage, the motto on the left-side door reads 'To
care and to protect'.

But after the smash it's somehow changed to 'Dedicated to serve'.

The Adventures of Robin Hood

Year: 1938
Director: Michael Curtiz, William Keighley
IMDB Rating: 7.9/10

The Adventures of Robin Hood tells the well known story of Robin of Locksley, who is the leader of a gang of outlaws living in Sherwood Forest protecting the rights of the Saxons that live there. The Norman King Richard has gone missing and his evil brother John is looking to take his absent thrown, raise taxes and live off the poor inhabitants of Nottingham, but a member of the royal party wants to help Robin.

The oldest movie so far on the list and another I would never have watched, I had quite a pleasant surprise!

I'm sure you know the story so I won't go any further than that, but this is the purest version, no Kevin Costner or Russell Crowe here. No huge explosions or visual effects, just a great story, fantastic fighting scenes and some great acting from the best Robin Hood I've seen, Errol Flynn.

adventuresofrobinhood_01.JPGThe film is a wholesome delight, family fun at it's best, if you like any of the modern Disney movies then I heartily recommend seeing this. Watch it with the whole family!

Favourite scene: When Robin arrives at the castle to announce his intentions the fighting scene is thrilling yet still funny.

IMDB fact: The sound of Robin's arrow is the favorite sound of Skywalker Sound's Ben Burtt. He has used that sound in almost all the Star Wars films.
