Alien: Scott teams up with Lost's Lindelof for 'dark and nasty' prequel
Movie director Ridley Scott says the two-part Alien prequel he's set to shoot will explore the dark side of the franchise.
The two films will trace the origin of the killer Alien species, and pose the question: were they created as biological weapons?
"The film will be really tough, really dark." he says.
"It's the dark side of the moon. We're talking about gods and engineers - engineers of space.
"Were the Aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and cdlean up a planet?"
Scott is working with Lost producer Damon Lindelof on the script, so there's huge anticipation for his long-awaited return to the franchise he began.
It's being filmed in 3D and is set 30 years before the events of Alien, meaning that there's no place for Sigourney Weaver's Ripley.
Could we have just one, little, smoke monster, please?

This is a classic alien flick movie. The sequels have been a big hit to the audience. The way they present the aliens are very creative. - Gregory Leb
