Doctor Who: what to expect this week

It's not every day that you see Winston Churchill and the Daleks onscreen together.

So prepare yourself for this televisual event, because it's going to be almost mind-bogglingly exciting.

The episode has been written by Mark Gatiss, who's no stranger to the show. He's a lifelong fan of the sci-fi series, appeared as Professor Lazarus in The Lazarus

Experiment, and penned episodes The Unquiet Dead and The Idiot's Lantern.
Gatiss has spoken in the past about his fondness for mixing science fiction with history, and as you've probably already guessed, that's what he's done here.

The Doctor is summoned to war-torn London by an old friend, but gets a shock when, on entering the Cabinet War Rooms, he comes face to face with his oldest enemies - which have now been painted khaki and, for reasons unknown, are sporting utility belts (how they can use them is anybody's guess).

What makes things worse is that it appears Churchill is in league with them...
