Angelina Jolie is apparently in talks to star as wicked witch Maleficent in a new Disney film.

A film spin-off of Sleeping Beauty centred on the evil fairy godmother who curses the princess to sleep for 100 years has long been in the pipeline, but now the LA Times reports Angelina is keen to play the title role.

Tim Burton has been linked to the project as director.

Maleficent is the wicked fairy godmother who casts the original spell on Sleeping Beauty, that she'll prick herself on a spinning wheel and die.

The good fairy godmothers change the spell so if the princess does prick her finger she'll sleep for 100 years to be woken by Prince Charming's kiss.

Star Trek 2: Filming update

By Steve Wollaston on Mar 31, 10 11:24 AM

Simon Pegg has revealed Star Trek 2 could begin shooting as soon as this Christmas.
The 40-year-old British actor plays Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the sci-fi adventure alongside Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana. The film is directed by JJ Abrams and roughly scheduled for release in 2012.

Simon revealed: "We all talk to each other, I speak to JJ quite a lot and he's very tight lipped - he doesn't even say what's going to happen in Lost, he really can keep a secret that guy!"

He added: "I keep saying when are we doing it, when are we doing it and he says 'Soon, soon.' So I reckon towards the end of the year."

In a recent interview Christopher Lloyd chatted about his role in Back To The Future, this is what he had to say about the much loved trilogy.

"We had a feeling that if it was going badly we'd know about it during the shoot, but there seemed to be a positive feeling.

"I don't know that we anticipated the huge success it had that sustained so strongly, but there was a feeling that we had something that was at least going to be nothing to be embarrassed about. It totally exceeded our expectations.

"I would love to go forward 50 years, 100 years. Given everything that's happening in the world today and see how all this stuff resolves itself - or does it? I've been to Rome and seen the ruins and it's always intrigued me, so I would love to go back in time to the time of the Roman Empire and witness the life there at that time, or Athens during the golden age of Pericles or whoever."

Still lookin' good.

We are all going to die (at some point), but if the Mayan calendar is to be believed, we have just over 2 years left to make the most of what this planet has to offer us, because it is all going to end 21/12/2012 when the planets align to cause all manner of catastrophic events to occur.

What we did't know was what it is going to look like, until now. Director Roland Emmerich has gathered all his world smashing skills together to have one last pop at planet earth. Skills honed on previous ventures (Independence Day, Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow) And blasted out the screen with gusto.

Lost 6x10: Sneek peek

By Steve Wollaston on Mar 26, 10 10:28 PM

Well I have just watched episode 9.

Wow.

Who better to sort it out than Dr Pierre Chang at Untangled!

HE is one of only two actors to portray their character in all six films - yet Anthony Daniels didn't even want to audition for Star Wars in the first place.

The 63-year-old Brit - who played the fussy protocol droid C-3PO in the epic sci-fi series - was invited to meet George Lucas, the director interested in Daniels' background in mime which he thought would work well for the role of the golden robot.
