Actress Linda Hamilton rose to fame as Sarah Connor in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

The 53-year-old actress, who was born in Maryland, USA, now lives in Malibu.

In a recent interview she reflected on her role in Terminator.

On Arnie

"I was a little worried about the Arnold Schwarzenegger character being in it because I wasn't sure that he was gonna be able to... He was just developing a reputation as an actor.

"He was not unknown at all, but he had just really begun his film career, and I remember thinking that might be the thing that broke peoples' belief, having him play that part. But once I was on set and saw what he was doing, then I was very confident."

On Filming

"We shot the end [first] and by the end of the filming we went back and shot the beginning, where nothing has happened; backwards as always.

"They spent two hours covering my bruises so I could look like I was fresh and new [laughs]. I was just covered with bruises from landing on the machines and fighting.

"The second one was hard, but I was in such a better place for it. A little more was demanded, but I also knew what the job was going to be, so I think it might have been a little harder to do all that in the early days when I was just not an athlete, not ready for that kind of thing.

"I was just a little more vulnerable just as an actress, as a person - the loss and the grief and the death; losing everybody. That's a harder thing to act than, you know, taking everybody down."
