This is either brilliant or total tripe - I can't decide which!

Listening to the official Lost podcast with Carlton Cuse and Damen Lindelof it became quite clear that the show is very much still a work in progress.

Lost : 108 is the magic number

Following on from the Wallace blog, here are more musings on that 108 number.

Big thanks to Bonnie Covel's Lost blog for the info!

* Hurley tells Jack they have to turn the lighthouse dial to 108 degrees. The name next to 108 is Wallace. (Ep: 6x5, Lighthouse)

* Sayid was held under the water at the Temple spring for 1:08 minutes. (Ep: 6x2, LA X Part 2)

* The Oceanic representative claims that the Oceanic Six used a raft to travel off the island on day 108. (Ep: 4x12, There's No Place Like Home Part 1)

* The monk tells Desmond that they've only bottled 108 cases of wine. (Ep: 3x17, Catch 22)

* Sawyer jokes that they need to play ping pong every 108 minutes or the island will explode. (Ep: 3x17, Catch 22)

* It's the number on the digital clock that Desmond sees that reminds him of the hatch timer. (Ep: 3x8, Flashes Before Your Eyes)

* On the diagram, several areas are marked CVI, CVII, CVIII. Those are the Roman numerals for 106, 107, and 108. (Ep: 2x17, Lockdown)

* The timer in the hatch starts at 108 minutes and has to be reset between the time it reaches 4 and 0 minutes. ( Ep: 2x2, Adrift)

* 108 appears when Jack is in the corridor of the hatch. It's on the mural in the background. ( Ep: 2x1, Man of Science, Man of Faith)

* Multiply it by 5 and you get 540. 540 is the number of days until "your replacement" will arrive at the Hatch, according to the orientation film. ("Orientation")

* It's the number of answers to Locke's crossword puzzle. ("Collision")

* It occurs in video reel #23108-42 that Kelvin shows to Sayid. ("One of Them")

* The log printout in the Pearl displays numbers that increment by 1:48 in base 60 (which we use for counting time). If we convert 1:48 from base 60 to decimal, we arrive at 108, which makes sense given that this is the frequency with which the code is entered. ("?")

* It's one half the number of hours between intervals when the vaccine kit injections must be done (9 days). ("Three Minutes")

* One loud jungle frog, the coqui, which was tormenting Sawyer, has been measured chirping at 108 decibels.

* The armoury (where the guns are initially stored) has two lock combinations. When you add both of the lock combination numbers together, you get 108 (7 + 33 + 18, 18 + 1 + 31).

* The song "Make your own kind of music" that Desmond plays in the hatch is stopped by the explosion after 1:08. ("Man of Science, Man of Faith")

* On the blast door map the Roman numerals CVIII are shown in a box, translated into modern Hindu-arbic numbers CVIII is 108

* It's the beats per minute of Ben's heartbeat on the EEG for a moment. ("Not in Portland")

* 108 times 3 equals 324 - the number of people on Flight 815.

* Oceanic 815 crashed on Sept. 22, 2004. 108 days later is Jan. 8, 2005 (Or 1-08-2005).

* The hourglass used by Dogen lasts 1:08.

* Dogen twirls and studies a baseball in the episode "What Kate Did"; a traditional baseball has 108 stitches.

* If you add all the numbers together 4+8+15+16+23+42, you get 108.

Heroes : now it's better than Lost

Funny how things can change, eh?

Last season, Heroes was all but dead and buried - seemingly damaged beyond repair by poor storylines, wooden scripts and a loss of direction.

Lost, meanwhile, was starting to pick up again as the real battle between good and evil; finally kicked off.

Now it's the other way round.

The arrival of Robert Knepper, as sinister carny showman Samuel Sullivan has breathed new life into the show.

Best-known as sick psycho T-bag from Prison Break, he's made Heroes unmissable, despite a dodgy Oirish accent.

At the same time, the return of Claire Littleton as a poor man's Danielle Rousseau in Lost has been ludicrous, the acting terrible.

Add to that the duff Dogen, leader of The Others in the temple, and Lost is in real danger of turning into a bad joke.

Oh for the days of the light suddenly bursting from the hatch ...

Anyway, if you're also a fan of Robert Knepper, then you'll be amazed by just how many TV shows and movies he's appeared in.

So Jacob's instruction to set the lighthouse wheel to 108 has got everyone going.

If you freeze-framed the scene, you'll have seen candidate No 108 was someone called Wallace.

As he/she had been crossed out, we can assume it's not one of our heroes on the island.

Lots of theories out there at the moment point to Walt.

But this is interesting ...

Wallace is a famous Scottish surname, and Desmond is Scottish.

* Desmond did have to punch the hatch button every 108 minutes, after entering six numbers that totaled 108.

* When Jacob told Hurley to move the dial to 108 (4+8+15+23+42=108) it was so someone could get to the island.

* Desmond isn't on the island currently, and when Jack broke the mirrors, Jacob said he wouldn't worry because he would find a way to get there.

* Although the name next to 108 says "Wallace" it is possible Desmond's last name (Hume) isn't his birthname, much like Miles has a different last name than his parents.

The cast of hit ABC TV show Lost have been forced to flee beach sets as the tsunami sparked by the Chilean earthquake approaches Hawaii.

Show boss Carlton Cuse has sent a Twitter alert to the actors and technicians, warning: "Waves to reach Hawaii just after 11 AM.

"To ALL on the LOST crew -- responding to the Tsunami warning -- safe refuge is available at the studio."

Joint boss Damon Lindelof has also tweeted:"Praying for Chile and all the islands of Hawaii. Please send our cast and crew all your positive energy."
