Transformers 3 will have fewer explosions

In an interview with the LA Times, fun-loving movie-maker/satan's spawn (delete where applicable) Michael Bay says the third installment of his robotic franchise will be more about character than things blowing up.

Now I liked the original and thought the second was truly terrible, so the idea of Bay laying off the action just a smudge so you can follow what the hell is going on sounds good.

But I cannot believe that Bay - armed with a massive budget - is suddenly going to start getting in touch with his wafer-thin character's feelings.

It's so much easier just to blow something up...
