Spiderman 4 is not happening

By Steve Wollaston on Jan 7, 10 11:51 AM

Sony Pictures decided to delay the superhero sequel, which stars Tobey Maguire as geeky superhero Peter Parker and is directed by Sam Raimi, over concerns about the script, reports Variety.

"We will not start until we have it right - the feeling is we are not going to rush it to make the date," a Sony source told the film trade bible.

The decision means the fourth film in the series is unlikely to meet its announced May 6 2011 release date.

The film's director Sam hinted he would like to see Peter Parker become more mature.
"I've been talking with Tobey about where his character might grow to in this installment," he said last October.
