True Blood = filth

I attempted to watch True Blood the other night.

Where there is hype there is usually a reason.

Not sure there is here.

First thing that struck me was that it had the 'V Man' Vinny who used to be incredibly annoying in Home And Away when I was a teen.

It also seemed to have a lot of sex in. Not that I am prudish.

The most noticeable account was when a woman was visiting a graveyard at midnight.

As you do.

A moss covered man/thing emerged from the ground and scared her half to death.

She then proceeded to not ask him to wash but to ravish him.

He then did his business with her before biting her neck thus turning her into the undead.

Odd.

Why would she not ask him to wash?

I won't watch again.

Actually, you are a prude, and a hypocrit considering you base your opinion one one episode. Perhaps you should stick to Twilight. I assume that kiddie stuff is more in your arena. But no one really cares.

Kudos Andy, well said. Also "Steve Wollaston". You said, "He then did his business with her before biting her neck thus turning her into the undead." You should get your facts right first. This isn't correct.

Steve, as a fellow anorak scribe I am surprised you are not giving True Blood a fairer shake than this, particularly when it is a series by Alan Ball, who dabbled in darkness in Six Feet Under and wrote American Beauty. Just dropping in mid series it is easy to judge things out of context. The whole show can be seen as an allegory for attempts at racial and sexual integration in the south. The sex isn't entirely gratuitous nor is it random, though I admit a shower wouldn't have gone amiss on this occasion. And this vampire fiction subscribes to the belief that you don't get turned unless you drink the vampire's blood.
Cracking theme tune as well.

Now, now. Calm down dears. It was a tongue in cheek article. And yes I am sure I do have my facts slightly muddled. It was late and the show was very dull and confusing despite the sex and graveyard fornication.

Each to their own. We all enjoy what we enjoy, my job is to write about things however I want to. I appreciate your comments, maybe I will watch again.

PS - Not a Twilight fan!

Despite his protests, it does sound like Steve would rather spend an evening with Edward, Bella and the topless dog geezer!
I'm a True Blood fan - it's up their with Buffy and Count Duckula as one of the great vampire shows.

ok ok ok

I will give it another go!

I can assure you I'm not a Twilight fan though.

Alison - is it better than Buck Rogers?

Count Dracula - I will put the kettle on. How many sugars?

WeirdSci - Lost Boys - the best vampire thang ever. Count Duckula rocked!

Can't really compare True Blood and BR, I don't think, Buck, Wilma and Twiki ever dabbled in blood play or auto-erotic asphyxiation. At least they didn't in the episodes I was watching.
Farscape was better than Buck Rogers.
Lost Boys rocks, even the Coreys, surprisingly.
