Such has been the critical acclaim and box office success surrounding alien apartheid movie District 9 that there's already talk of a sequel.

Director Neill Blomkamp, who had the backing of Peter Jackson for his thought-provoking sci-fi action thriller, wants to carry on where the movie left off.

If you haven't seen the film yet, I won't reveal the ending. Suffice it to say that a door is left not so much ajar as gaping wide open.

Blomkamp says he'd love to team up again with actor Sharlto Copley, who plays the reluctant hero in District 9, and wants to get back to the world he's created.

"I think the two of us will be reunited should the public decide this film is something they want to see, and is successful," he told Fangoria Radio.

Well, more than $90 million in the US alone suggests it's a done deal.
