Why all geeks should watch Zac Efron in teen flick 17 Again

That got your attention didn't it fellow sci-fi geeks. Zac Effron? Cheesy teen heart-throb and star of the twee High School Musical fims?

Watch his new film? Are you mad Steve?

Let me explain...

On the way home from work yesterday I bought my daughters the film 17 Again starring their fave pin-up boy Zac, the idea being that it would keep them happy for a couple of hours and generally be a nice thing to do.

But then their mother decided we should watch it through tea - great - cheers honey.

BUT - the film surprised me, yes it was predictable, twee, cheesy and excruciatingly teen - one thing it did have however was an excellent geeky character in it with some of the best toys ever!

The character in question is a ricj chap who is the best friend of the main character - his apartment is decked out with lifesize Darth Vaders, film props, lightsabers etc

And then just to top it all off - his bed is the Land Speeder from Star Wars: A New Hope, and behind it he has a huge Tattooine backdrop - and I wanted to own it straight away!

There is also a fairly funny and quite decent lightsaber duel between the pair.

Other than that I didn't enjoy it - honest.

Forget that, if you want a lovely film with some great geeky toys and references, you have to check out Fanboys.

It stars Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell and is one of the sweetest films I've seen for ages, with a lovely geeky tinge. And no blimmin' Zac Ephron!
